China to provide trade concessions for Pakistan's economy

KARACHI (June 13 2010): China has assured to provide trade concessions which will have positive impact on Pakistan's economy, Federal Secretary Commerce Zafar Mahmood informed business community. Speaking in inaugural ceremony of central office of Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) and later talking to newsmen, he said that USA and European Union (EU) are not prepared to give trade concession to Pakistan owing to international economic recession.
Opposing export of live animals, he said export of animals will create shortage of meat in the country Replying to a question, he said that cost of doing business has gone up considerable due to power shortage, frequent upward revision of power, gas tariffs and other 16 factors.
Referring to Free Trade Agreements (FTA), he said that a team of exporters will be created to analyse FTAs signed with China, Sri Lanka and Malaysian with Pakistan and also give a detail picture of its benefits and disadvantages for Pakistan.
