Nov 14, 2013 (LBO) - China Harbhour Engineering Company has inked a deal to build a golf course and two hotels in Hambantota and Katunayake with an investment of over 500 million US dollars, an official said.
A resort in Mattala will have a golf course, a 250-room hotel and a tax free shopping complex, Johanne Jayaratne, executive director of Airport and Aviation Services of Sri Lanka said.
A 200-room transit hotel in Katunayake will also have a 1000 vehicle car park and tax free shopping facilities, he said.
CHEC signed a memorandum of understanding with the AASL Wednesday in Colombo at a Commonwealth Business Forum.
The two projects are estimated to require an investment of between 540 to 640 million US dollars, but detailed feasibilities are underway, he said.
China Harbhour will make the investments.
