China Nuclear Power Engineering Co Ltd, China's first company engaged in nuclear powerengineering, announced on Wednesday that the company's "Smart Power Plant" projecthad passed the assessment of the China Nuclear Energy Association.

This is China's first smart nuclear power project. According to the relevant schedule, theresearch achievements of smart power plants will gradually be applied to domestic nuclearpower projects, and achieve full application in 2017.

In recent years, research into smart power plants has made an important contibution toimproving the design and construction of nuclear power plants around the world. Thecompany's program has provided a smart way to connect the design and construction ofnuclear power plants seamlessly.

China Nuclear Power Engineering is China's largest nuclear power operator and the world'slargest nuclear power builder. The number of nuclear power units under construction andtheir installed capacity are both the highest in the world. Currently, the company controls64 percent of the production and operation of domestic nuclear power units and 51 percentof nuclear power plant construction projects, with 11 units in operation and 13 underconstruction.

Based on the technical solutions adopted, the smart nuclear power plant project will bejointly promoted under seven special programs: "unified business processes", "collaborative design", "smart construction", "project management", "simulationdeduction", "knowledge engineering", and "information framework and data center".
