China Responds over Japanese Protest against U.S. Military Bases

China on Monday urged the United States to do more for regional peace and stability following a demonstration in Okinawa demanding the removal of U.S. military bases there.

Around 65,000 people gathered in a park in Okinawa on Sunday to protest against U.S. military presence there following the brutal rape and murder of a 20-year-old woman in April. Some demanded the U.S. bases, including Futenma, be removed out of Okinawa.

"The Futenma base is an issue between Japan and the U.S. China has always maintained Japan-U.S. alliance, as a bilateral arrangement, should not exceed bilateral scope or target third parties," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a regular news briefing.

"It is worth thinking about how the U.S. presence serves the interests of countries and people in the region," Hua said.

Military bases have been part of the Japan-U.S. security alliance for decades. Okinawa hosts some 75 percent of U.S. bases in Japan, yet the tiny sub-tropical island accounts for less than one percent of the county's total land mass. Anti-U.S. sentiment is at a high following the latest rape and murder.

Japan government should first think about its people, not serving white masters and begging around.

Yes, Japan needs to regain independence. This is quite hard given that the country was re-formed under US colonial government.

But, gradual changes could be introduced. First of all, the number of US personnel should be reduced. The current number is too high. Maybe, Japan can limit US presence to technicians and operators of defense systems. The offense platforms, including CBG, can be sent to the fully-colonized Guam.

Japan can also put a complete no-travel ban on US military persons outside of their wired compounds. Besides, if a crime happens nonetheless, Japan must have complete legal authority over the criminal, including the full option to carry out death penalty.

If several US military persons are executed, the crime rate will drop dramatically.

Japan can also request a complete background check to be shared with Japan of the military persons stationed in Japan. If a personal history of violenece, rape, murder is found, that person should immediately be sent back home.

Eventually, Japan must assume its national defense in its entirety. But that is politically impossible at the moment

Long story short, in about 1895 (little more than 100 yrs ago), "DAI NIPPON" annexed "Okinawa" (Ryukyu). Twice, the people of Ryukyu pleaded Qing to save them..... but alas, was ignored. This is sad history.

Ryukuu was IGNORED over 100 years ago by Qing Dynasty. It would be very sadden the pathetic CCP ignores their cries for help now! FAMILY WILL ALWAYS BE FAMILY.

Ryukyu problem will be taking care in 20 years but not now.

The time line of Chinese strategy goals :

Control SCS(now) ------> take Taiwan(5 year from now) ----> Ryukyu Independence and take Diaoyu islands (20 years from now).
