Prime Minister Imran Khan held meetings with China’s top leadership in Beijing on Sunday morning.

The premier and the visiting Pakistani delegation met President Xi Jinping in the Great Hall of the People in the Chinese capital.

The two sides engaged in delegation-level talks. PM Imran was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Adviser on Finance Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood, Minister for Planning Khusro Bakhtiar, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, and Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan among others.

Reaffirming the ‘All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership’ between Pakistan and China, the two leaders exchanged views on the entire gamut of bilateral relations.

They affirmed the resolve to further strengthen their strategic cooperative partnership in all fields including political, security, economic and trade, and people-to-people exchanges.

PM Imran conveyed Pakistan’s unflinching commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the two sides discussed the mega infrastructure project’s extension into new areas of agriculture, industrial development, and socio-economic uplift.

He said Pakistan would always support to China on all issues of its core interest. The premier thanked President Xi for the welcome accorded to the Pakistani delegation and for China’s steadfast support to Pakistan on all issues.

President Xi also reiterated China’s unwavering support to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and appreciated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government’s agenda for socio-economic development and people-centered progress.

He asserted that China-Pakistan ties would continue to acquire greater strength and practical cooperation would be increased over time.

The two sides also exchanged views on the regional situation, including in Afghanistan and South Asia. President Xi appreciated Pakistan’s sustained and successful efforts in the fight against terrorism and to create a peaceful neighbourhood.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the close cooperation between the two countries at multilateral fora and resolved to further deepen communication and coordination at all levels.

They also agreed to keep the momentum of high-level exchanges between the two countries.

Prior to discussions with President Xi, the prime minister held a separate meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing.

The two leaders sat down for delegation-level talks which focused on range of bilateral issues, chief among them being CPEC and its related projects.

PM Imran and his counterpart witnessed the signing of the Main Line-1 railways agreement. In a statement from Beijing, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed hailed the agreement as a “great day in the history of Pakistan Railways”.

“Under the project, a double railway track will be laid from Karachi to Peshawar. The speed of trains that run on the new track will be around 160 kilometres per hour,” said the minister.

The meetings come a day after PM Imran reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to CPEC and said the mega-infrastructure project was “not a transaction but a transformation of Pakistani society”.

Addressing world leaders during the Leaders’ Roundtable session on Saturday, the second day of the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, the premier said transformation brought by CPEC became possible due to the wisdom of China’s leadership and the hard work of the Chinese people.

“China is a great success of the modern age: achieving sustained growth, transforming society, improving the quality of life of a billion people. President Xi Jinping has given the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) vision to break barriers, connect people, integrate economies and share prosperity,” said the prime minister.

It was a privilege for Pakistan, he added, to be an early partner of China. Under the CPEC project, he said, the country was building highways, modernising railroads, setting up power plants, establishing a port, and establishing Special Economic Zones.

According to the prime minister, the connectivity of Gwadar Port with China’s Xinjiang region will provide a shorter route for China’s imports compared to the South China Sea and reduce the cost for Chinese companies, and develop western regions of the Asian giant.

The premier arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a four-day official visit on the invitation of China’s President Xi Jinping. In his address during the opening ceremony of the forum on Friday, the prime minister presented five ways to further expand the BRI.

“Firstly, we must undertake joint efforts to mitigate climate change. In our Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, we successfully planted a billion trees. I suggest we launch a joint project to plant 100 billion trees over the next two years, so that we can mitigate the effects of climate change for our coming generations,” said PM Imran.

“Second, we should establish a BRI Tourism Corridor to promote people-to-people contacts and inter-cultural understanding. Thirdly, an office of Anti-Corruption Cooperation should be set up to combat the scourge of white-collar crime. White-collar crimes are devastating the world.”
“We should create a poverty alleviation fund that supplements national efforts in the fight against poverty and malnourishment. In Pakistan, we have recently launched a targeted poverty alleviation programme called ‘Ehsas’. The aim should be to emulate China’s spectacular success in lifting 800 million people out of poverty within a matter of decades,” said the PM.

“Lastly, we must make concerted efforts to further liberalise trade and investment flows encouraging our private sector and businesses to collaborate in projects.”

The premier later visited the headquarter of FOTON automotives in Beijing. Imran was briefed by the Chairman FOTON Gong Yueqiong over the company’s investment in Pakistan through the establishment of assembly plant as a joint venture.

It will be a greater day for Pakistan when the China -Pakistan training link through Karakorum is built. All focus and effort must be made to materialise this.

We need to create joint friendship universities and research centers for more in-depth collaboration and exchanges, and a joint strategy center to control and manage India.

Positive TV time to peak time viewers in both countries highlighting the people and cultures and friendship.

Pakistan/China/Iran need to create a joint rapid deployment force for regional hot spots.

History[edit]

Karakoram Highway route map
In 2007, consultants[4] were engaged to investigate the construction of a railway through the Khunjerab Pass in Gilgit-Baltistan to connect China Railway with Pakistan Railways. A feasibility study started in November 2009 for a line connecting Havelian and Kashgar. 750 km (466 mi) of the line would extend through Pakistan, while the remaining 350 km (217 mi) in China.[5] In June 2014, China commissioned a "preliminary research study" to build an international rail link to Pakistan.[6] In 2016 this 682 km proposed railway link was reported to be part of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor,[7] and was to commence construction during the second phase of CPECbetween 2018-2022.[8][9] However the construction of this railway line was not mentioned in the CPEC Long Term Plan from 2017-2030[10]released jointly by China and Pakistan in 2017. China's involvement in several rail projects in Pakistan is motivated primarily by commercial considerations, but it also sees distinct advantages for its improved transportation and access to Central Asia and the Persian Gulf states.

Pakistan awarded a Rs72 million (US$1.2 million) contract to an international consortium to carry out a feasibility study for establishing a rail link with China to boost trade relations between the two countries.

That's nice and all but where was the condemnation of Indian aggression? All of the countries propping up India to be canon fodder were very vocal in supporting Indian right to "retaliate" without evidence. Would've certainly helped reaffirm belief in the iron brother, especially if Pakistan didn't come out looking so good.

France was the only country to support the Indian strikes rest of other countries were neutral and wanted de escalation the US was torn The Trump Admin is split between Neo Cons so folks like Pompeo, and Bolton have cryptic statements of support but after the shootdown of the Indian fighter jet they switched to desclate, the PRC since Deng Xiaoping time has focused mainly on neutrality on disputes and conflicts they tend to be quiet and behind the scenes as for the Turks they had a similar boilerplate message a of desclation contrary to rumors of Turkish troops being sent to Kashmir or Turkish support of Pak again these Urdu conspiracy videos or news clips have a lot misinformation as usual to be sensationalist at times like this
