The most critical reason why China cannot let religions be loose on their own, is the preaching of Sovereignty of god. Sovereignty of god dictates that "the supreme ruler" is the god, thus the believers can "rightfully" oppose their human rulers in the name of their god.

Buddhism is one religion that does not teach Sovereignty of god and Buddha was not god but an enlighten Human, and it is thus the most tolerated religion in China. One the other hand, the two Middle-East originated religions preached creator god and sovereignty of god, and can be and had been (as in Taiping Rebellion) political and military challenge to overthrow government of the day.

Therefore, de-radicalisation of any religion is essential to maintain stability in China, radicalisation on the other hand is a tool for the anti-China foreign countries using NGO and churches to bring chaos in China.

By the way, I believe in human evolution, human creation is just fairy tale, just like the flat Earth, the six days creation and god will only accept 144,000 believers to heaven etc.

Not only that, Buddhism teach all beings are equal and can get enlightened and can become Buddha. That is why in the past, especially in Tang dynasty, there are many enlightened Chinese monks and their teachings have great influence to today Buddhism. and not sure today people have wisdom to understand correctly what they said.

Buddha taught karma, cause and effect, people is responsible for their actions and by changing our actions we will have different fate. like Chinese work harder then china will be richer, study harder then you will be smarter, not like Christianity taught fate which means they want to teach Chinese people to accept their poor fate, and cannot be changed, Christianity teach no one can change the arrangement of God! it means you go poop is created by God, you sick is because of God, theft and rapes are also created by God. Such kind of God is absolutely evil!
