State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu on Monday held talks with Nepali Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, vowing to further bilateral cooperation on law-enforcement.

China and Nepal, as friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, have witnessed deepening cooperation in politics, economics, culture and security since they forged diplomatic relations, Meng said.

He said China-Nepal relations can serve as a good model for peaceful co-existence between neighbors, and such relations have stood the test of time and the change of the international situation.

China appreciates Nepal's adherence to the one-China policy as well as its support on Tibet-related security issues, he said.

Meng also praised the effective cooperation and mutual support between security and home affairs departments of the two countries in safeguarding their own countries' stability and border security over the years.

He said China is ready to make joint efforts with Nepal to enhance coordination in exit and entry administration, intelligence and information sharing, and law-enforcement education and training, in a bid to push forward bilateral law-enforcement cooperation.

Gachhadar said Nepal attaches great importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with China and is willing to deepen bilateral law-enforcement cooperation.

After talks with Meng, Gachhadar also held a meeting with Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.

Speaking highly of the development of China-Nepal ties, Zhou reviewed his visit to Nepal in August. He said he was glad to see that cooperation programs settled during the visit were in smooth construction, and he hopes the process will be sped up in order to benefit the two peoples.

Gachhadar reiterated the adherence of the Nepali government to the one-China policy. He said the government views Taiwan and Tibet as inalienable parts of China's territory and will not allow anyone to make use of Nepali territory to conduct separatist activities toward China.

He also thanked China for long-term support in infrastructure construction, law enforcement and security cooperation and human resources training.

Saying that Taiwan and Tibet concern China's core interests, Zhou said he appreciates the steady support of the Nepali government and all previous ones for the Chinese government and people. He hopes the two countries will further strengthen communication and cooperation in this regard.

He also called on the two countries that share a border of more than 1,400 kilometers to strengthen cooperation in law enforcement and security, jointly fight against trans-border crimes and maintain regional peace and stability.

Gachhadar said next year will be a year of investment and welcomed more Chinese companies to invest there. He also briefed the Chinese side of Nepal's domestic political situation.

Zhou said China, as Nepal's friendly neighbor, was glad to see the positive progress achieved in Nepal's peace and constitutional process. China hopes to see a Nepal with peace, stability and development, he noted.
