Featured China Mars rover successfully landed

US was following USSR in pretty much every space achievement except for *moon landing*.

The first American satellite was launched less than 4 months after USSR Sputnik. The first American in space was less than 1 month after Gagarin. The US and Soviet Union were essentially deadlocked in a race.

Meanwhile it’s been decades since the US successfully landed a rover on Mars. There’s no comparison.
Just like USA followed USSR

The US was only months behind the Soviets at the outset of the Space Race, then got thoroughly crushed by Apollo.

The US landed a rover on Mars over 2 decades ago. There’s no comparison between the two.

US lost the space race. Every significant space achievement it was the USSR that was first. Except the moon landing*.

Damn....how many threads are you guys opening on this topic? Can't the mod merge everything on one thread?

Anyway congrats to China this is a big achievement indeed. Hopefully countries will cooperate more in space. There is so much we don't know about our solar system

Congrats to China, as I’ve said before, China are excellent followers!
Oooo I can feel the bitterness in this white wannabe
Just like USA followed USSR
Lololol lolol.... This is a good one.

Mods can we clean this up before another flame bait is created?

Why can't you guys just give congrats and crdut when due and leave it at that? Why the need to always flame bait and troll at the end?
Seriously it seems every member on here is so bias that their nationalism always get the best of them. Very difficult to see a level headed member on here who doesn't indulge in trolling or trying to downplay the achievements of other countries who they consider as rivals. This forum is just full of such people. Sad to see this face🤦‍♂️

All of us on here are just common citizens of our countries we happen to be born in. We gave no influence in our our countries handle their foreign policy or even economy etc . So what's the point of all this useless trolling and putting down others? Does it change your family's situation/ put food on your table or make you have a better career in life? Lol I don't see the need for all this nonsense. So why not just make observations and leave it at that instead of always trying to make everything about your country's look good. No country is perfect. Jeez

The US never followed Russia making a modular space station. It wasn't until ISS that the world saw another modular space station since Mir of the 80s and 90s.

are there plans of bringing the rover & lander back or are they gonna leave them there?

When they make Long March 9 they can put an ascender on Mars similar to Chang'e 5. They weren't able to put ascender on moon until they had Long March 5.

Chinese poor technology, Chinese reverse engineer, Chinese years behind.

Chinese on mars now.

China has been high tech country since earliest days of human civilization. Look at these armor and weapons. On par with ancient Rome.

The Soviets had a minuscule lead at best for several years then got thoroughly crushed in the late 60s. Since then, NASA has essentially owned the heavens.

The US landed its first lander on Mars in 1976 and rover in 1997. So yes Waz, China is literally years behind.

Soviets owned the US during the space race. Every major space landmark was done by USSR. Except moon landing*.

The weight of China's first Mars rover (~200-300kg) is comparable to the first generations of US mars rover (~185 kg), it is understandable since its China's first try.

But the landing method is just advanced (if not more advanced than) as the latest generation of US, using sophisticated balanced active control method, instead of free fall method the US used before.

Lolol and yet the US needed soyuz to go to ISS. Lololololol. Burn
