Where's your fact that china hid crime stats? A murder in any city in China is a big deal, news and gossips would be all over it. The fact that most Chinese (and westerners) feel safe in China, is not because they are brainwashed, it's because they live their whole life in China without fear of being gunned down, raped, or mugged. Chinese were taught from early age by their parents to avoid pan-handlers and pickpockets, but were never taught not to go somewhere because they would be killed, mugged or raped, the chances of those happening in any city in China is simply incredibly low. Also, knife attacks are extremely rare, and even those type of attacks are widely reported in China. So take your imagined "fake" and "hidden" crime stats and shove it up where sun doesn't shine.
