China has right to declare ADIZ in the South China Sea

Whatever be the case the truth of the matter is people in Taiwan are also very concerned. I cant say anything about other neighbors but in the short sight of things I don't see how peaceful will everything be.

You don't need to declare an ADIZ to monitor and track. Let's see how China grows the balls to do anything beyond monitoring and tracking.

:cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: China has NO balls to do anything monitoring and tracking? You certain about that!

So what do you think happened to the Lockheed EP3 surveillance spy plane that was forced to land in China Hainan Island then forced to be disassembled before being alow to leave China in 2001, the recent 2016 complaints by the US Navy that their Naval Patrol Planes were harassed by the Chinese jet fighters, USS cruiser Cowpen being rammed by China warship, etc etc

Better renew your facts or knowledge before penning silly comments.

I hope both nations would practice restraint before raising it to the next level. China is not yesterday China and is in fact ready for real confrontation. USA should never test it nor push it into brinkmanship.

It will be peaceful alright unless a silly Tsai under the instigation of foreign powers opts for INDEPENDENCE then you better fly home and stay in Kashmir, it will be much safer there.

BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China said on Wednesday that it will decide whether to declare an Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) in the South China Sea in accordance with the extent of threat.

"The ADIZ is not a Chinese invention, but rather that of some big powers. If our security were threatened, of course we have the right. It depends on our comprehensive judgment," said Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin at a press briefing at the Information Office of the State Council.

A white paper titled "China Adheres to the Position of Settling Through Negotiation the Relevant Disputes Between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea" was published on Wednesday, after an award was issued on Tuesday in the arbitration unilaterally initiated by the former Philippine government.

Liu urged other countries not to "take the opportunity to threaten China," and called on other countries to work with China to jointly maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.

Liu reiterated that settling relevant disputes between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea through negotiation is the theme of the white paper, as well as the policy of the Chinese government.

"We hope to work with countries surrounding the South China Sea, including ASEAN members, abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), maintain peace and stability as well as the freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea," Liu said.

He noted such a policy has not changed and will not change.

As for the arbitration award, the vice foreign minister reaffirmed that China will not execute the award. And he called on the Philippines to return to the track of bilateral negotiation.

An Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) is airspace over land or water in which the identification, location, and control of civil aircraft is performed in the interest of national security. They may extend beyond a country's territory to give the country more time to respond to possibly hostile aircraft. The concept of an ADIZ is not defined in any international treaty and is not regulated by any international body.

Note that the presence of an ADIZ can be ignored by any civilian aircraft.
It does not give the country declaring an ADIZ any legal value.
It is there merely to filter out those civilian aircrafts, like those hi-jacked
which needs special attention.
Any country can declare an ADIZ in the SCS including Colombia...

ADIZ will be declared based on external developments. China has the fundaments to carry out and enforce the rules. It does not matter others deny its existence; they will not be able to prevent to be monitored and tracked.

After the SCS ADIZ is declared, it will take about a month for it to become the new normal.
