China gets Trincomalee port? 3rd port in Sri Lanka

US $260 million dollar circular highway around Sri Lanka's Northeastern port of Trincomalee will be built by a Chinese contractor with financing from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

Information minister Keheliya Rambukwelle said the cabinet of ministers had awarded the building contract to Hunan Road & Bridge Company following the recommendation by a negotiation committee.

The 47 kilometre highway will connect Nilaveli, Thampalakkam and Sampur areas and will help a flour mill, cement plan, oil tanks.

Sri Lanka is also planning an industrial zone in Trincomalee and an expressway to connect the capital Colombo.

good decision..but one thing is unclear..the article says that China was awarded to build roads..are they getting ports with that too??its not mentioned in the article.

So how does a Chinese firm winning a contract to build a highway in Trincomalee amount to them getting the Trinco harbor??.. Shooting in the dark are we??

在斯里兰卡的正常商业活动当然是要两国都受益，斯里兰卡也好，其它国家也好，不可能想着既从中国获取建设资金和技术，又不想中国从中有任何的好处，难道中国人的智商比哪个国家的人低吗？即使是到现在为止，中国的军事力量在斯里兰卡也不过就是进行了几次物资补给，这其中还没有军用物资，威胁到谁了？还是给斯里兰卡带来什么不稳定了？港口的建设资金技术是中国出，但是港口建设带来的大量就业机会是斯里兰卡的，港口的所有权也是斯里兰卡的，中国当然也要从中获利，但这还是商业正常活动的范畴，有些国家有些人疑神疑鬼只能说明自身心里有鬼，那就由他去吧，这样的人是不值得交往和信任的！
