Smaller East Asian countries have been culturally conquered to an extent.. celebrating Christmas, Valentine etc without being Christian.
China should maintain its own culture and tradition , the world will also respect it more that way.
Chinese trying to gain acceptance/look Western by taking Western names or celebrating Christmas without being Christian devalues them imho. For that reason all Hong Kong wannabe Anglos lose my respect.

That does not explain why westerners don't celebrate CNY , Deepavali or Muharram under whatever excuses.
It's a barely disguised ( or open?) form of worship .

Hmmm..true to an extent.
It's demonstration that "soft power" is usually an after-effect to economic power and not vice versa.
The same way the public follows the fashion and fads set by the rich and the glamorous. Even if they wear something ridiculous it becomes the rage just because.
Only in a small number of cases soft power flows inspite of being poor or powerless (eg Kungfu movies of China, Yoga of India )

I have no idea in what sense Western countries can be said to have governments. Like WTF does Canada's so-called "government" do besides siphon taxes? It certainly doesn't manage pandemics.
