China forms missile brigade for South China Sea

...These missiles will land on your a$$ if VN continues to provoke China. If a war breaks out and none of us will see any replies from you again then we can assume the missiles did their jobs, that's how "fake" they are to you. :)

VN wants peace, and always wishes to have a good relationship with China. It never attacks China first. But it must be prepared for a worst case.

Hanoi’s air defense missile force, or Force 64, under the Vietnam Army has been training on the system in order to be well prepared for any emergency.

A training session

At 10:00, Force 64 received an alert and went to ready status. Fighting vehicles were taken into fortified positions. Radar systems and missile launchers were erected.

Force 64 is equipped with the Russian-made S-300PMU1 SAM system. Within minutes, the complex is ready to launch missiles and destroy targets.

The air command control in charge of operating acquisition and detection radars and missiles launchers detected groups of targets entering into the airspace guarded by Force 64.

Major Nguyen Quoc Van, chief of the unit, ordered his radar system to establish the trajectory of the targets and identify the number and class of the targets, as well as other information such as coordinates, distance, altitude and velocity.

The illumination and guidance radar, called 30N6E, of the S-300PMU1 is considered a super-genie eye which utilizes multi-channel and multi-function pulse-Doppler antennae. The surveillance radar can detect aircraft, strategic cruise missiles, tactical battlefield ballistic missiles and any stealth flying targets with a reflection surface as small as 0.02 square meters flying in massive enemy air raids and heavy clutter.

The S-300PMU1 has superb missile kinematics, high-powered aperture phased array radar capability, and high immunity to severed electronic hamming thus requiring unusually intense defence suppression efforts from enemy forces.

Tens of monitors display info on the hostile flying targets and the status of the SAM system in launching missiles to destroy the opposing force.

Chief Van admitted “the commanding officers of the S-300PMU1 don’t hold guns as infantry. We fight through monitors of control systems and signals.”

In the ground command unit, officers were communicating with morse code signals, displayed on two large monitors for air and firepower surveillance info.

“After tracking targets in detail, we asked for permission to attack them with two missiles,” a target surveillance officer reported.

Launch officer Nguyen Thanh Nguyen was given an order to open fire. Two missiles left the launcher at a speed of 1,900 meters a second, quickly destroying the airborne targets.

It is a possible situation that officers of Force 64 have made part of regular training.

Robust firepower

“We realize that the S-300PMU1 is a very modern munitions system, and we take pride in having such equipment handed over to us,” said Major Van.

The S-300PMU1 is regarded as one of the most potent anti-aircraft missile systems currently fielded. It can defeat any modern strike aircraft, strategic cruise missiles, tactical battlefield ballistic missiles and other flying stealth targets over an area of 1,600 square kilometers, which surpasses the US’s Patriot system, with a coverage of just 300 sq.km.

With high precision, the S-300 system can give nightmares to hostile air forces.

The S-300 system can also detect flying targets within 300km and hit them from 3 to 150 kilometers away and at an altitude of 10 meters to 27 kilometers. It can track 100 targets at the same time and fire at six targets at once. It manages 12 missiles and can launch two missiles at each.

A target hurtling at a speed of 10,000kph can fall prey to the Russian SAM system.

The equipment can be deployed within five minutes and be prepared for launch from any unprepared site, whereas the Patriot requires 30 minutes for deployment. Within 40 seconds, the system can go from standby status to fighting status.

The unit is composed of a radar system, up to eight missile launchers each carrying four guided missiles, supplementary and maintenance units, and a missile storage station, all of which is placed on a tractor that can climb a hill of 30 degrees, cross a 2.5m deep ditch, wade 1.3m under water, and operate for 500km non-stop.

The system can also carry warheads and missiles and maintain them on the spot. It is designed for 'shoot and scoot', in which the unit fires and immediately moves, within five minutes thanks to rapid erection and launch preparation.

Each vehicle of the kind is operated by two officials -- a commander and a driver cum radar operator.

Any officer working with the S-300 system, even a driver, is well trained in Russia. All staff graduated the foreign training courses with an A+ grade.

Major Nguyen Quoc Van was sent to Russia for two years of training before going back home last September to take over as the chief of Force 64. He is assisted by vice chief and chief of staff Nguyen Tran Luyen, 35.

All other staff of the unit are less than 32 years old, and the youngest one is only 24.

Force 64 is one of 13 units belonging to Air Defense Division 361, which was established in 1961 to defend Hanoi.

In a 12-day operation in late 1972, the division played the key role in protecting Hanoi’s airspace. It shot down 29 aircraft including 25 B-52 strategic bombers of the US Air Force.

I doubt the S-300 will be effective against China.

China has been operating the S-300 for a very long time. China understands all of its capabilities and limitations.

China will severely damage Vietnam's air defenses with missile strikes before establishing control of Vietnamese air space. China will destroy Vietnam's S-300 sites with ballistic or cruise missiles. Alternatively, China can use MLRS.

For those few Vietnamese S-300 sites that escape destruction, when you Viets turn on the acquisition radar, China should have an anti-radiation missile waiting for you.

----------

By the way, I should mention Vietnam only has two S-300 units.

"Vietnam has bought two S-300PMU-1 for nearly $300 million.[37]"

----------

One more thing, the S-300PMU-1 is the most primitive of the S-300PMU series and it has the shortest range. There are improved versions with a 200km range and in excess of 200km.

hats off for China´s peacefull rise. The whole world knows China is superior to Vietnam. No doubt about this.
I just blame our ancestors that they failed to expand the teritory (it should be much more larger than it is today), and missed some chances to conquer China in times when it was weak.

Even in times when it was weak a pitiful Vietnam can't conquer China. Tell me which times do you think Vietnam was able to conquer China?

Please my friend do not blame your ancestors for most of them were living in China as many of your distant cousins are living there now.

For the idiot who said that the Spatley island was the last thing Hanoi would think of defending if a war broke out, pure idiocy. Hanoi is willing to "sacrafice" Hanoi herself to defend the Spatley Island

We decided to go for 6 Kilo submarines instead of 140 Mig29SMT interceptor is a clear indication of what we will fight for and what we'll not abandon.

If you ever watch any of our news network, we'll be surprised how fking serious we're about keeping these rocks in the middle of the ocean and we won't stop relinquishing our claim on the Paracel Islands and we do this by keep sending hordes of fishermen to fish in the vincinity of the Paracel Island and keep your maritime patrol vessels busy ALL THE TIME.

And for those who wants a land war with Viet Nam, your Politburo won't allow you. They won't ever have the balls to muster more than 10% of your conventional forces (tanks, airplanes) to fight Viet Nam so you guys are doomed for another 1979 reset with us.

During the ancient time, only the northern steppe/forrest nomads were considered as China's only threat, while the Viets lived in the southern swamp area were never considered as a threat. :coffee:

Vietnamese having wet dreams of beating China. Dare the war and China will destroy Viet so bad, nothing will ever grow there again

It not a wet dreams of Viet Nam more than likely China is the one whose built its dreams to beat Viet Nam and history already prove it China cant not getting CLOSE

Don't worry, I hope China will let you can have a SHARE and which part are you willing to SHARE if war might happens? (legs, arms, or all)

Vietnamese had no expansionist ambitions like Chinese, so we didn't attack China first.
However, in 1075 Vietnam's military attacked proactively Nanning and captured easily chinese generals as taking candies from a pocket.

And dont forget that the chinese got spanking many times.

Lý Thường Kiệt (李常傑; 1019–1105) was a Vietnamese general during the Lý Dynasty in Vietnam. He penned what is considered the first Vietnamese declaration of independence and is regarded as a Vietnamese national hero.
Lý Thường Kiệt was born into a Ngô family in Thăng Long, the capital of Đại Việt. His real name was Ngô Tuấn. His father was a low-ranking general. In 1036, he served the Emperor as a captain in cavalry and later lead the imperial guard force. Because of his bravery, intelligence and loyalty, he was granted a royal name, Lý Thường Kiệt, and given an important position in the Court.
In 1075, Wang Anshi, the prime minister, told the Song Dynasty emperor that Đại Việt was being destroyed by Champa, with less than ten thousand soldiers surviving, hence it would be a good occasion to annex Đại Việt. The Song emperor mobilized troops and passed decrees to forbid all the provinces to trade with Đại Việt. Upon hearing the news, the Lý ruler sent Lý Thường Kiệt and Nùng Tôn Đản with more than 100,000 troops to China to carry out a pre-emptive attack against the Song Dynasty troops. In the ensuing 40-day battle near modern-day Nanning, the Đại Việt troops were victorious, capturing the generals of three Song armies.

So you meant like your ancestors moved to Singapore and Viet Nam too? Remember, Chinese [Tầu*Chệt] are living in Viet Nam too and some of them are really loves its Mainland even though Mainland already denied them.

Mainland called them as Vietnamese spies or betrayal and I don't think they are will do any difference with other Chinese whose are living OUSIDE Mainland.

We are weak, yes, but not the loser. The evidence that we have victory over the Chinese many times, and killed countless chinese troops.
If you need, I can list and quoted our victories over the Chinese...

Once again I have to quote to repair your ignorance:

The history of Vietnam is one of the longest continuous histories in the world, with the oldest archaeological findings showing that people have been living there as far back as over a half million years ago.[1] Ancient Vietnam was home to some of the world's earliest civilizations, with a cultural history of over 20,000 years - making them one of the world's first people who practiced agriculture.[2][3] The Red River valley forms a natural geographic and economic unit, bounded to the north and west by mountains and jungles, to the east by the sea and to the south by the Red River Delta. The needs to have a single authority to prevent floods of the Red River, cooperation in constructing hydraulic systems, trade exchange, and fight against invaders, led to the creation of the first Vietnamese states in 2879 BC.[4] The first truly influential part of history in Vietnam occurred during the Bronze Age, when the Đông Sơn culture was in Vietnam, dramatically advancing their level of civilization. Vietnam's peculiar geography made it a difficult country to attack, which is why Vietnam under Hùng Vương was for so long an independent and self-contained state. The Âns and Qins were among the earliest foreign aggressions of Vietnam, but the ancient Vietnamese regained control of their country soon after their invasions.
