Chinese state councilor and foreign minister has said that China is keen to strengthen cooperation with Bangladesh in the field of emergency response to tackle different disasters.

He made the remark while sending a condolence message on the fire accident in Shitakunda container depot to his Bangladesh counterpart AK Abdul Momen.

‘China is willing to work with Bangladesh to strengthen cooperation in the field of emergency response, so as to safeguard the safety and the wellbeing of our two peoples,’ he wrote in the letter on June 7, according to the Chine embassy.

In the message, Wang Yi said that he was shocked to learn about the fire accident at a container depot in Chittagong and deeply saddened by the passing of victims.

The Chinese foreign minister extended his sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and the injured, and offered to provide necessary assistance to Bangladesh according to the subsequent needs of the Bangladeshi side.

Now this is what a decent foreign minister of a responsible country does.

I think we should benchmark Chinese occupational health and hazardous material handling practices.

It should be easily achievable by Bangladesh - and the supplies will be reasonably priced and effective.

It is a shame that another country has to offer assistance in times of disaster in a highly developing country like Bangladesh.

It seems, like all other things, the govt has failed to set up a system to tackle an emergency. It is as usual a piecemeal action as fingerpointed by Hasina or whoever is the PM. No system that stipulates what to do in what circumstances.

Lungir git khuila gesey shobar shamney.

Izzat-er ar kisu baki nai.

Shob oshikkhito goru sagol dia civil defense and fire service bhora.

Incapable of even basic disaster response procedures. Forget OSHA (US), normal EU Hazmat practices or guidelines, they can't even maintain their own fire service equipment. Main impetus in buying expensive fire tenders is to get percentage and distribute the graft among all the ministry bigwigs.

These fire service people (even at senior level) are qualified a small step above ardali/peon/tea-boys.

Ask them the difference in the definition of "risk" and "threat" and you will get blank stares. They would not have any clue on how to operate a basic fire-retardant foam cannon...

I have friends in Bangladesh who supply stuff to the Fire Service. They cry when they talk about Bangladesh Fire Services readiness level. It is a huge gap that needed plugging a decade ago.

No training, low grade salaries, low grade people, just an embarrassment all around.

China probably wants BD to become a kind of North Korea and another satellite. So, China is trying relentlessly to steal this poor and small country away towards its own sphere.

Too much love is now being shown by China.

First fix the ministers' cabinet with good western-educated people. It is now full of half-educated peasant people. They do not know how to set up a system. How then do the untrained fire brigade people act?

Anyway, when the country remains an unsystematic basket case, our PDF brats are happy to cite fictitious GDP data to tell the world that BD is soon to become the next $1 trillion economy.

However, I am happy that these brats have not yet claimed BD economy will supersede that of Japan. Some stupid Londonwala kitchen boy was claiming Japan is no technology country!!

My balls!! Bloody idiot BAL cronies!!
