LAHORE: One of the world's largest hydropower construction company of China has offered to assist in upgrading various departments of the Pakistan Railways.

The offer was extended by a four-member delegation of Sinohydro Corporation, led by Engineer Liu Zhong, after a briefing by Pakistan Railways General Manager (Operations) Anjum Pervaiz at its headquarters in Lahore on Saturday.

The delegation members were informed that in the wake of the Pak-China Economic Corridor project, the importance and need for upgrading the Pakistan Railways had increased.

The Chinese delegation said they would inspect various departments of the Pakistan Railways and prepare a report to finalise any assistance by the Chinese company for upgrading Peshawar-Karachi main track and other facilities.

already partially electrified, infact PR also had electric locomotives which were cheap and easy to maintain and no corruption of oil and diesel with it. but the current minister for reason of unavailibilty of electrcity scrapped it?
