Actually it is a very shrewd policy...Let China foot the bill for all development costs which those countries would have expected from us but keep those countries from making any military alliances..

The only country which has a short sighted policy is China itself..It is not making any head way in encircling India militarily but also losing to its neighbors in its own neighborhood who are taking its money and buying weapons and cultivating alliances with US while China fumes and barks of war...

What SL and other SAsian countries like BD, burma , nepal doing is , making best use of indo-china rivalry. They dont want to be lap dog of one country. They r doing what is best for their country. Good for them.
This is repeated in ASEAN countries recently. They r making good use of us-china rivalry. Its evident from todays headline.

Well most of sri lankans hate India coz of the things some of their politicians had done to us, and their state called Tamilnadu providing terrorism into SL.

I don't think most of SL people know who is China's leader. only thing they know "They are the people who helped us", because of this feeling lankans have no issue with them.

Our indecisive politicians and our bureaucrats who can't look beyond their nose have, between them thoroughly screwed up matters in Sri Lanka. SL had every right to call the Chinese when we declined to do the deep sea port and other infrastructure projects and now that we find them next door, we repent. We can't blame SL for our FUs. We allowed the Tamil issue to totally cloud our senses and gave a foothold to the Chinese at our door step. Had political expediency not been an overriding factor here, we could have handled things much better.
