If it strengthens china via Burma it will weaken Bangladesh!!!! Wow I did not know we were that important and china will do all this to get at Bangladesh - a country that is friendly, that does huge trade with it and is always seeking closer ties with it. It will weaken Indias claim to dominate the bay. Indian Andaman base will suddenly be under huge pressure.

Bangladesh is clearly in chinese sphere of influence. China has been a friend to Bangladesh over a long time. I see Chinese influence in Burma as a positive one. Given Bangladesh Burma maritime issues are now resolved there is no problem with Bangladesh using the same pipeline to supply china with potential gas/oil from the bay within our EEZ. Bangladesh Burma competition for dominance is the figment of Indian imagination.

Every threat will open up corresponding opportunities. Bangladesh has enough clout and options to not be cannon fodder or subservient to anyone's interest but our own.

If suddenly in the bizzare offchance china becomes hostile bangladesh will just recalibrate it's strategy. It will check such potential of being isolated by gravitating towards US and India. There is every reason to assume that US is already making such overtures given the continuous high level US military delegation that are coming to Bangladesh. I believe Bangladesh will not shift its china centric policies because US is a fair weather friend and china will always be here.

Bangladesh always has options. We are between two competing regional powers China and India and the sole superpower US. We will play the game to our interest. There is no permanent friend in international politics. We know our strategic importance and interest as does US, China and India. Bangladesh is not in territorial dispute with any one and it is in everyone's interest to maintain strategic balance.

China has cultivated friends all around the region unlike India, so to my Indian friends in the forum play nice you never know if china turns up the heat we are going to be the biggest friend and buffer you are going to have.

Yes, A&N belongs to Myanmar. If China can take it back from india, Myanmar will lease it to China as a naval base.
