There is as much moral high ground here , as western pharma charging 10s of thousands for critical drugs form the poorest of countries, And trying to shut down Indian pharma that makes it dirt cheap.

I believe in the Democratization of Knowledge as well. Monopolies only serve the very few.

If anyone has worked in any corpo env , they know , white collar theft and espionage is the essence of competiveness.

Hell , even American companies , order up Chinese high tech products to reverse engineer there optimizations . They call it competition analysis.

Last I checked, Phytium paid for use of the EDA software by buying it. TSMC paid for use of their tools by buying them. The minute they were paid for it's not yours anymore. Isn't that capitalism? What is capitalism if you don't own products that you pay for? Walmart doesn't put out an IP claim to art created by their paint.

So the reality is: Phytium uses own property to make own products.

Those are the rules that were set by USA and they serve US and its allies interests.

The ISDS clause in the original TPP was meant to give all the advantages to US.
Small manufacturing nations have practically no says.
Philippines was the only smart nation that opts OUT.

But since then, the world is slowly changing.

That is why today USA fears that China.
Obama has said USA will not allowed the world to be run based on rules by China.

Now we understand what he means, a revived new China has been proposing and setting new rules based on a more acceptable universal standard for all nations esp. developing nations.

Logically speaking once the EDA software is sold, USA has no right to stop the users from using it for whatever purposes the buyer choose to and for which clients.
It is like saying, I supply you the bread but I decide which customer have the right to eat it.
