Beijing has lodged a diplomatic complaint over the conduct of U.S. Navy destroyer USS Mustin, which shadowed a Chinese aircraft carrier group for three weeks as it held exercises in the Western Pacific and South China Sea.

At a press conference on Thursday, China's defense ministry spokesperson Wu Qian accused the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer of "persistent close-range reconnaissance" as the People's Liberation Army task group led by Liaoning conducted exercises this month.

The only advantage they have is the world doesn’t want to risk a war as china is too integrated in the global supply chain. Starting next few years you will see their global reach start declining.

China can never be a super power, like forever. They dont trust anyone and no one trusts them. The only allies they could muster are Pakistan north Korea and few African nations dependent on their loans, in total they constitute to less than 10% of the global economy against the America with quad alone constituting over 40% of the world economy.

Thats why I said: Liaoning take Mustin lightly .... because they are not scared as you imagined, hence not putting escort in between.

I repeat: at that time USN warships in west pacific were not ready yet for WW3 with China, once Mustin attack Liaoning, means WW3 and the retaliation will be so damaging for US assets in west pacific (carriers, destroyers, cruiser, even military bases in Okinawa and Guam.

The chinese goverment analyst is not referring to the Liaoning act when they said "the combat capabilities of the Liaoning are still limited". In fact since Liaoning combat capability is still limited they shouldn't act like that by showing it's belly.
