With Gwadar, PN's role is set to not just grow, but become vital to the survival of Pakistan. Before, there was little need for PN to receive major funding, other than for coastal defense, as Pakistan's main threat was ground infantry combat. Now, with Gwadar, priorities are changing.

Once Gwadar becomes operational, and Pakistan's economy starts picking up pace, PN may find it self with a far bigger budget than it has currently.

This is a strange thing I notice in Pakistan. I thought the chiefs are supposed brief the PM every week or at least once every 2/3 weeks. But apparently it happens so rarely that any such 'visit' is a big event and newsworthy with photo-ops in Pak. Why would this even be news? Their job is to give an update very frequently no?

You are going to upset all Pakistani military current and ex-servicemen, their cousins and children on here by writing this sensible comment :enjoy:. But you are absolutely right and that's a point I've pounded on here for years, without luck!!

The PM does get briefings from their GHQ. But anytime there is a meeting to discuss a projects outside of normal briefing, the media has to show it as an extraordinary thing. Ten more years of democracy and a civilian rule, and all this would change, and it would seem like stuff from 1980's!!
