Fourth nuclear power plant at #Chashma Unit-4 (C-4) with 340 Megawatt (MW) power generation capacity has been successfully connected to the national grid
Unit 4 at the Chashma nuclear power plant in #Pakistan was connected to the grid on 29 June. The Chinese-supplied pressurised water reactor (PWR) - the country's fifth power reactor - is expected to start up by the end of August.
A ceremony was held on 1 July to mark the unit's grid connection, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced today. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and CNNC.

. . . . .
Do we know how much it cost to build & what would be cost per KWH from this unit?

Why our dearest pm, didn't inaugurate these projects, 2 power plants completed in a day, no publicity?? He must be really worried about panama....

Good news.

Should step up to 800-1000 MW nuclear plant or even bigger ones. Need to address the electricity situation in coming years and need resources other than the dollar burning oil and gas plants.

.
That's good news. However, bigger hydropower projects must be started to meet long term energy requirements. Each government neglects big hydro project because they think it will not be able to showcase it in next election. This negligence has cost us too much in past decade and will cost us again if they continued to scarify national interest for their elections.

Same technology as previous three reactors at Chasma so it must be selling around 7-8 Rs/unit
C-I sells electricity @ 5 Rs/unit because it has paid all the debt
C-II is around 7 Rs/Unit.

Dont know the cost but China provides the bulk of it. In case of Karachi its 100% Chinese investment and China will be taking all the money earned by those 2 plants for their first 10 years of operation

340MW? A joke

Even our solar park are bigger than this at phase one 400MW

We need serious plants and Chinese now have home designed 1000MW and 2000MW plants why we picked the most tiny one ?

We need 20 of these

Can we upgrade these 4 plant(C1,2,3,4) to 1100MW ?

You cannot triple nuclear capacity and upgrade with existing infrastructure from a small one

From cooling, recycle and rods it would be almost impossible

Easier to build a new larger one

Do you know how much we need to complete one plant?. These are old projects and project start date was 2009. On that time this was the only best options Pakistan was having. One Nuclear plant need at least 5 to 7 years minimum and it is not a child play to build one. Unit 5 is signed on 2013 and may be will be ready in 2020 or 2021
