Chabahar port will help India bypass Pakistan: Afghan president

Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday said the Chabahar agreement will help India bypass Pakistan in transporting goods to Pakistan via a sea-land route.

“Why are we so concerned that a country (Pakistan) can block two great nations (India-Afghanistan) from trade? Let’s organise it then, let’s put the logistics in place. Anyway, Chabahar will end the monopoly,” said Ghani, during his visit to India.

Ghani’s comments come at a time when ties between South Asian rivals India and Pakistan are severely hit due to the unrest in Kashmir.

Ghani, who is on a two-day visit, had bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the day. Both leaders agreed that militancy presented the single biggest threat to peace, stability and progress in the region and beyond.

Will Chabahar Port reap greater benefits than Gwadar Port?

Speaking at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses in New Delhi, Ghani asserted that making distinction between good and bad terrorism is a “short-sighted” approach.

The Afghan state head said states should help their neighbours and not indulge in maligning them. “They (states) do not behave like maligned non states actors vis-a-vis their neighbours. They see a collective security to be an objective and that’s what brings stability. Stability does not come from the barrel of the gun,” said Afghanistan President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

Pakistan has blamed India for the two-month unrest in Kashmir that has left at least 71 people dead and wounded thousands of others.

Meanwhile, New Delhi has blamed its neighbour for stoking further trouble by pushing militants across the heavily militarised border that divides the region.

Pakistan sees no threat from Iran’s Chabahar port

India in May this year announced that it will build and operate Chabahar port and invest USD 500 million to develop the strategically important port, close to Iran’s border with Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, India and Afghanistan signed three agreements. New Delhi also announced a credit of USD one billion to Kabul.

New Delhi has provided a little over $2 billion in economic assistance to Afghanistan in the last 15 years, but has been more measured in providing weapons in order to avoid a backlash from Pakistan, which sees Afghanistan as its area of influence.

No one can bypass Pak. If the sole super power can not...then the illegal indian empire will NEVER.

This Iranian port is an extension of Gawadar in the grand economic and security architecture of Asia.

Pak is a Central Asian and ME regional power. the indian empire will remain in the plains of gangees forever.

When the real afg come to power all the stooges and paid indian assets will be living in delli.

Integeration of iran into Sino-Pak and Sino-Rus sphere is forgone now. Iran needs this axis for its survival and can never allow it to be used by the global empire against this Axis....indinan empire is just tool of the global hegemon. Everyone who matters is already coming to join the CPEC i.e. new global power architecture.

So, let us let these blabbering heads blabber because they are paid to do so.

Let us finish the strategic plans and create a new Asian world...Pak has a very critical role to play in her region of responsibility.

Soon ME countries will be knocking at Pak doors for security and comprehensive partnerships.

Great Times ahead for Sino-Pak axis!

Yar we will be more then happy for charbahar then afghan themselfs. All the smuggling is done by afghans in the name of afghan transit trade. We are loosing more then we gain from this pact. Go with charbahar afghans we wish you good luck.

And than do what exactly?? Trade with afghanistan?? How they will pay for that trade??

:china::pakistan:Gwadar with a considerable head start over Chabahar, could be a finishing point for pipelines in its oil and gas supply chain from the Middle East and the Africa, allowing it to find a way around the crowded nip point that is the passage of Hormuz. Gwadar also opens up the projection for a pipeline corridor bringing oil and gas to China from the Middle East as an exchange route to transport oil around the Indian Subcontinent and through the progressively more of the South China Sea. The path will be economical, less risky and give Beijing greater freedom of action to chase its control over the South China Sea.:partay: :enjoy:

Which port Gwadar or Chabahar is suitable for Kabul? It is 1237 kilometers away from Gwadar whereas the distance between Kabul and Chabahar is 1840 kilometers (driving distance). It means Gwadar is more suitable for Kabul because it is more than 600 km nearer to it as compared to Chabahar.

India is now also eyeing a role at Oman’s strategically located Duqm Port, which is being developed by the Sultanate of Oman along with a special economic zone as a regional economic hub. Given the good political relations between Iran and Oman, India is trying to establish a link between the Duqm and Chabahar ports to boost connectivity.

Japan ready to develop Chabahar port in partnership with India

Interesting time ahead for India-Iran-Oman-Japan-Afghanistan

if i am not wrong it was Pakistan who rejected trilateral transit agreement and kick India and Afghanistan out to sign Chabahar, not other way around.. you were begging us for route...

Pakistan is founder of Chabhar port.

Chabahar is a functional port since 1983... Pakistan had not even thought of Gwadar by that time... current agreement is all about expanding its capacity.. In May 2016, India and Iran signed a bilateral agreement in which India would refurbish one of the berths at Shahid Beheshti port, and reconstruct a 600 meter long container handling facility at the port. The port will provide an alternative for trade between India and Afghanistan.

Do you know that the Railway line connecting Chabhar to Afghanistan has already reached Afghanistan... https://www.khaama.com/afghanistan-iran-railway-construction-kicks-near-herat-province-01855

What is the Cargo Capacity of Chabahar and in comparison to Gwadar?

What is the Cargo Capacity of Chabahar and in comparison to Gwadar?
10 to 12 million tons cargo per anum while Gawadar alone can handle 400 million tons of cargo. And 212 notified ports of India handle an aggregate of 500 million tons cargo per anum.

Hey Love trio of India,Iran and Afgh would you try to mess with us?:pakistan::pakistan::pakistan:
