Kennard’s Self Storage CEO Sam Kennard is pushing for a boycott of Chinese products following the trade sanctions imposed as a response to Australia's call for an inquiry into China's handling of COVID-19.

Mr Kennard told Sky News he does not wish to engage in trade with a country which seeks to harm Australia. "So I thought, why don't we explore other suppliers, other countries that we can get products from," he said.

"We're just going to say, what do padlocks from Taiwan look like, or Vietnam, or you know, Singapore or Malaysia...what are the options there, because we've never really examined that."

On Tuesday he put out a call on social media for other Australian businesses to follow his company's lead. "On Twitter and LinkedIn the flood of support has been incredible," he said

The problem he will realize is that many if not most consumers are very price sensitive on most consumer goods. If other suppliers can beat Chinese prices then they have a chance, otherwise it will be difficult to convince most people to buy a more expensive product, especially during a recession.

furthermore, the act of banning Chinese products will unleash a trade war, where China will stop importing Australian goods, forcing Australia further into recession. I hope Australia has been observing the effects of the US-Chinese trade war, and at least learned the lesson that this approach doesn’t work.

For Australia which is shipping mostly commodities, this could be especially hard as China maybe more likely to find other suppliers at similar prices when global demand is weak.

CN never can get out of middle income trap if they keep selling cheap stuff, CN's future will look like Argentina or Lybia .

For high tech stuff, Australia already banned Huawei 5G and Hikvision AI cameras to avoid US's anger. They can't buy Huawei ,Hikvision's stuff even when they want to.

Trade war wt Australia only make CN economy get even worse. That's why CN has to beg Australia to join RCEP.

. .
For once I support these stupid clowns, please boycott us.:partay:
Of course Huawei,Hikvision will be banned for good, while CN still have to import Australia's coal secretly.

CN leader just make a fake "trade war" wt Aussie to make their ppl happy, while CN still has to import Aussie coal secretly to de escalate the tension. That's why Aussie is invited to RCEP
