In a key development, residents of Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw district have recorded videos showing China's PLA (People's Republic Army) personnel and machinery carrying out construction work near Hadigara-Delta 6 in Chaglagam. Sources confirmed that it generally takes four days for an individual to reach the sport and Chaglagam is the last administrative post in the district near LAC (line of actual control).

The video was reportedly recorded on August 11, 2022, and locals, while speaking to India Today, expressed their grave concerns over the alleged intrusion by Beijing. A resident of the village, Mechukha of Shi Yomi district bordering the Indo-China border expressed concern over the recent reports of China developing infrastructure near the LAC.

The residents of Mechukha also informed that in the past their ancestors used to visit Tibet before the 1962 Indo-China war and engaged in the barter system by trading salt, rice, ornaments from Tibet in exchange for local goods.

"Now, the Indian Army do not allow anyone to go near the international boundary," the resident said while noting that the infrastructure on the Indian side was deplorable and there existed a single road connecting Menchuka to Aalo town of the west Siang district for over a decade.

"Border road organization is working like a snail speed while China completed making four lanes to reach borders. Schools and medical institutions are also lacking facilities in Menchuka as very few doctors are available in a small hospital and there is a lack of teachers at schools. There is no college in Mechukha and students are migrating to urban cities for higher education," the resident said.

They further underlined the need for better networks in the area and said that there was only one BSNL service provider of telecom without internet service.
Network connectivity is not available in Menchuka as there is a single BSNL service provider of telecom without internet service.
"Without the internet, students suffered a lot due to no access to online classes during Covid," they added.
