Catcher in the rye

Have you read it? Could you connect yourself with the protagonist in it? I love that god damn book...in one year I read it 4 times..it was written in 1951 but you feel it is the story of our day and age.
Indian stories of 50s don't give that feeling..in fact there are very few stories that transcend the time.
