The latest sanctions on China by Biden admin seems to have panicked the CCP MIIT and the Chinese companies seem to finally understand cavalier announcements about 2nm etc are just useless balderdash if you don't play nice with the mighty USA.

"MIIT officials appeared uncertain about the way forward and at times appeared to have as many questions as answers for the chipmakers, people familiar with the discussions said. While they refrained from hinting about counter-measures, officials stressed the domestic IT market would provide sufficient demand for affected companies to keep operating, the people said, asking to remain anonymous on a sensitive issue."

Can someone with better knowledge of Chinese industry provide potential impact ?

Strange. The material question though, if possible someone in the know could answer is whether the MIIT crisis mtg indeed took place if any actual impact statement is available.

I own some Chinese polycarbonate and it's sliding precariously!!!

And you trust news about a coup happened in China against Xi?

.
Every week hundreds of articles are written about China's collapse over the last 30 years. Yet China keeps pushing ahead with no end in sight. Funny how there are very few articles about the West demographic collapse since in 2040 many Western countries like America will no longer have majority white population. I guess knowledgeable whites know their time is up and they want to degrade other countries so they fall with them. Too bad China isn't into self sabotage and want to replace Chinese with black/browns like West does.

My question is. A backward country like India has something to do with the word "chip"?

How does a chip issue cause China's collapse? Is China's society so fragile that any talk of a disruption in one sector leads to a complete paranoid fear reaction response by the general population of the entire country's collapse?

If somebody says the air is low in my tire most people don't jump to drastic conclusions that their entire car is about to fail...but apparently from your reaction people in China do since this chip thing has little bearing on the country as a whole having a general failure.

LOL, good question, ask OP the Indian. He made up the thread title himself.

I read the article and it doesn't mention China's collapse anywhere. It does mention an impact to the chip industry...which is somehow being interpreted as a general China collapse by posters here (who likely didn't read the article).

But what does "Catastrophic impact " the made up title suggests?

Reality is always somewhere in between. It will have some effect, no matter what the Chinese say. It will also not ruin China like the Americans want. I suspect this is going to hurt China in short run, and harm US in long run.

We thank US for its decades old sanction on the Chinese space industry, otherwise we wouldnt've the world only independently owned space station circling the earth now.

A catastrophic impact to the chips industry shouldnt lead to China's collapse..unless you truly do have a fragile society of paranoid citizens who completely panic at the mere mention of any bad news and say the "sky must be falling". This is one of the reasons people talk about the Chinese government needing to heavily restrict bad news to the populace.
