So I've been on pilot forums like ppPrune etc. And I've posed this question to them as well. So I had just started flight training when the Covid 19 hit. Now global economies and airlines all over the world in particular are tanking. I'm forced to rethink my career choice. Right now I have about 19 flight hours.

Need help and guidance. Especially if you have knowledge of airlines(U.S airline industry in particular).

In 2008 a lot of U.S pilots left to other markets in MENA or Asia. But this time it's different cuz airlines all over the world are suffering.

So far I've encountered 2 schools of thought

1) Go for it by the time you're done everything will be better

2) Be extra cautious huncker down.
2nd school of thought often overlooks ghat all industries across all sectors and across the world are suffering.

1. The demand for commercial pilots will recover by the time you finish your training.

I would suggest that you should have a four year degree so that if you are not able to get a job as pilot, you have second option.

Start a poll.

Some industries will always do well, Education, Medical, Finance, and yes even Aviation. Aviation is a growing industry, there will be bumps on the road, but it will smoothen out eventually.

I know a guy who had some issue with his ear and had to quit pilot training in the middle, due to medical grounds, now he is an a/c engrr. Having a back up plan always help, but it all depends on your financial situation as well.

That's the most common suggestion in pilot community as well.

It might be a bit tricky but I could always try to find work in a different part of the world.

So far in life I've learned there are never guarantees. You might end up in scenarios which you looked down upon or never imagined yourself doing.

For example: gorey k toilets saaf karna hahaha

As long as you earn an honest living via hard work = no issues!

A lot of pilots complaining(like they always do kinda like truckers) and painting the present lockdown situation as the rapture. Don't realize that ALL of the sectors in ALL of the economies GLOBALLY are gonna suffer in next 2-5 years.

. .
A lot of peolle do it simultaneously. And that was the original plan.

There's a phase in the life of a pilot called reserve. Where you are called to the airport sawari mil gai te theek nai te kaar(ghar) jao. Typa situation.

Alota pilots manage to churn out a degree like that.

I wanted to get a computer degree so I could do some freelancing in the off time.
@Ahmet Pasha You can add a third option, "get a proper 4yr degree, and then become a pilot"

Similar stuff happened after 9/11....did the flights bound back? Yes they did!

If being a pilot is your only source of income then that's worrisome. Always have more than one streams of income.

While getting more flight hours/experience & $$$, start on a 4 year degree, get some certs in CS, look into Data Science, WebDev or something related where you can work from home (maybe go to the office once in a while, maybe not).

I gave you a link to Codecademy in another thread....Udemy is another good resource, so is FreeCodeCamp.com.
