Carbon dating: Fragmant of Quran older than Prophet Muhammad

What is the percentage error in carbon dating method? There isn't much of a difference in 568 and 572 AD.
Another historical inaccuracy in the op is that according to the op, Quran was ONLY memorized before Abu Bakr R.A while the truth is that many bits and parts of Quran were in written form as well during the life time of prophet PBUH.
Looks more like a propaganda stunt pulled by an atheist researcher than actual fact.

.
It is believed that the Birmingham Koran was produced between 568AD and 645AD, while the dates usually given for Muhammad are between 570AD and 632AD.

its actually right around prophet (SAW) time. always remember with this kind of science there is a confidence interval on either side of highest and lowest value. this actually proves this was written right around prophet (saw) time....

. .
Calm down people, this is bull.

Oh and the Daily Mail is a joke.

Thanks

.
Scientifically speaking this spread of date between 568 to 645 AD (77 years) represent inability of the test (sensitivity) to narrow this date any further...
There is an equal chance that this was written in 645 AD (after the life of prophet saw) as it is that it was in 568...

So the doubt represents in accuracy in your test not in islamic history....

Possibility of revisions ?
Definitely....but I don't think any changes were made to it in the last 1000 years...the Quran which we have now in our hands would not have been the same. written by Muhammad..some things are added and some verses were removed like the satanic verses(about which salman Rushdie mentioned in his book satanic verses)..the Quranic verses were supposed to be recited by Muhammad as were brought to him by Gabriel but if you read some of the verses which threaten with you hell or which tell you the tales of ancient civilizations which were destroyed by god as he got angry on those people for worshipping idols and neglecting him(yes you read it right...god got angry because people were ignoring him and worshipping calves and idols) they were so long that they run pages..it is highly impossible for a person to read such long verses (unless mugged up for months). I feel they were later additions.

Hundreds of millions' faith is absolute. nothing to shatter at all.

In my opinion, absolute faith is mind numbing stupidity.

I should add that this is just my opinion and you are free to disagree. I do not mean to offend any belief system.

I couldn't agree more...religions make this thing called unflinching faith in god as romantic as if it is something to be proud of..it shows how stupid you are..how easily you can be manipulated..shows you are a perrson incapable of independent thinking and blindly follow the society like sheep .

Ok mods please for sanely discussing science can we keep our neighbours in check...

Please discuss science not your personal beliefs

It's the only book which hasn't changed...and it never will.

I'm saying, can there be any possibility of revision, before Prophet Muhammad gave this version.
Many Hindu scriptures have undergone many revisions, which has given rise to multiple schools of thoughts and till this date remain open to interpretation.

No...Muhammad and Quran can't be separated....Quran was the work of Muhammad..there wasn't any chance of it being in existence before him..but many stories found in Quran were part of pagan religions of Arabia..they had been already existing for so long even before Muhammad(he uses those stories to threaten the people with hell).

Ok since u probably dont know much i will try to educate..
Quraan is and cannot change ... ever...this is a central belief in islam..

Birmingham parchment is word to word same as any quraan published today...which shows that the claim that quraan cannot be changed is true (so far)

The in -accuracy shown in carbon dating reflects in-ability of the carbon dating used to narrow the exact date any further than a spread of 77 years...so most likely this parchment was written in prophet(saw) life or soon after his death...
