I was very skinny as a child but it changed during my teenage years. I put on weight. However, I decided to make a change in Winter 2017. So far, I lost over 53 kg (~117 lbs) which is definitely too much. My height is 180 cm.

My problem is that I can't stop losing weight. I'm about to become underweight, according to my BMI. I miss meals on purpose, I usually eat alone, my blood pressure is low, my hands and feet are often very cold. Don't know why but I hate being disturbed during a meal. Worst of all, I suffer from binge-eating. During a binge, I eat a family size bag of chips (200 g), 2x 100 g chocolate bar, biscuits, one doner kebab, nuts, sweet fruits and other stuff I can find in the kitchen. I tend to mix unhealthy and healthy foods.

Last night, I ate so much that my heart rate went up to ~130/min even though I was very tired and sleepy.

I can't really distinguish between the feeling of hunger and the feeling of discomfort anymore, thus, I just avoid eating at all. Occasionally, I can't tell whether I'm hungry or just thirsty. Sometimes, I kinda have cravings for a specific flavor and I eat until I've "found" the right taste.

My dieting is out of control. How can I change this behavior? It's irrational.

You might have tapeworm. You should seek a doctor.

. . .
As @lastofthepatriots said, you should see a doctor first, what you are describing doesn't seem normal, it seems like some kind of illness or imbalance somewhere. What you are describing sounds like pre-diabetes (don't worry you can reverse it with good diet and exercise).

Also, if you want to gain weight, then make a home made weight gainer, and put these things in:

1) Whey Protein
2) Oat powder
3) Peanut butter
4) Water

And do some strength training, you don't need to go to the gym, you can do plenty with your own body weight and a weighted backpack at home.

You might be suffering from a eating disorder called bulimia nervosa...you need to see a specialist asap!

Consult a doctor, that level of weight loss you've described is not healthy in such a short period of time. And the issues you're describing too are worth seeing a doctor, there are some on this forum if any member knows them and cares to tag them. But it's best you not wait around on strangers on the internet, see a doctor. Also, it seems to me you've gone on a starvation diet, these are never good for your health and should be avoided.

Whats your current weight and where does your body mainly store excess fat?
And how old are you? Have you noticed change in fatigue lately?

U said u lost 53 kgs and u still have some more to lose to be considered underweight . 53 kgs is a lot of weight which means u were quite overweight that depsite shedding so much you are still not underweight.

I think u lost too much weight in a short span which is causing u issues.

Best see a doctor get ur blood tests done , one of the issues could be thyroid issue. Plus read duas and salah that help you stay mentally and emotionally calm , cause anxiety also starts effecting apetite and eating habits cause when i am worried my eating habits get totally disturbed so i try to stay as calm as possible.

Hormonal imbalances specially thyroid hormones also effect moods and appetite and can cause weight gain and loss too.

Also the inability to differentiate between hunger and thirst , did that start after weight loss or had been there already? This issue can also be sorted by seeing a doctor because many ppl suffer from it

You need to visit a nutritionist asap. I was faced a with a similar dilemma a couple months ago (without all the binge eating). If I had to guess I'd say you went on a crash diet (cut of above 600 calories daily). This usually results in loss of weight but retaining eating habits. Be careful as binging with food because its dangerous regardless of weight and strictly portion your meals and eat them on time. Don't think about increasing your weight just retain it for now.

you two choices either
1- Google it and kill yourself
or
Visit the Actual Doc

I can’t tell the difference between when I’m hungry or thirsty either, though I eat fine - but mine in genetic and I don’t attempt to lose weight, but tone. You should consult a doctor and starvation causes binge eating which isn’t healthy.

Heart occasionally going to 130/min is not as much of an issue as losing 53 KG. When you are severely under stress physically or psychologically there are these episodes of palpitation, sudden flush of sweat and racing heart. If this loss was from say Oct 2017 then in about 4-5 months you have lost 53 KG. Thats 10-13 KG a month! That is massive! Unless you were 70-80 KG overweight, this should not be possible. If somehow this is happening, you body will be under tremendous stress.

If you were doing some weird diet or worse weight loss pills then that can explain this. There are steroid that can crank-up your metabolic rate artificially which hitting your vital organs like heart/kidney/liver.

Get yourself tested. Consult a doctor ASAP.

They will like to know your Crets/BUN level to rule out kidney issues. Your T3/T4/THS to rule out hyperthyroidism. Na/K etc. Insulin and Hb1AC. Unless they find something off in your physical.

In a nutshell, what all the folks have said here. See a doctor ASAP. Additionally, stop doing anything extreme you were doing for weight loss. Take 5 small meals daily of around 400 cals, well balanced in carb/protein/fat. Do not over drink or under drink water.

If your own sense like hunger and thirst are wack, then follow a schedule or social norm. Eat with your friends/family. Have a schedule to drink water if your sense of thirst is weck. Or check the color of urine. If it tends to yellow, thats a somewhat late sign of body trying to save water. Drink some water then...

Actually it's all about self control. Prepare you meals and set alarms on your smart phone to eat at regular intervals. Portion your meals correctly. Train your body and mind.

Also, don't binge. Never binge, especially not on foods that contain carbs/sugar. You will spike your insulin level through the roof, which will lead to insulin resistance (diabetes) and it will make your body store a ton of fat. It will also lead to a lot of up/down crash and burn mood swings just like if you were on an addictive drug.

Literally the only time you should binge on carbs/sugar is immediately after a strength training workout, since the insulin will take the energy out of your blood and put them in your muscle cells. If you binge without exercise you will just end up storing a lot of fat, which sucks even if you are skinny, especially the visceral fat that surrounds your internal organs which will cause huge problems.
