Can India Become the Next China?

No

Democracy is different from modified communism8-)

As for development goes,,no one knows but we will not be going down the drain for sure

. . . .
India can become Mogulistan, Banglastan or Pakistan but no way China.

Then why is gini quotient of China 0.5 and that of India is 0.3?
And thanks to tell an Indian how India is sitting in China. :D

Talk in technical terms rather than rhetoric.

Gini coefficient measures overall wealth disparity, which can be deceptive i.e. there are some very, very wealthy cities, with moderately wealthy provinces. There's also the case of everyone being poor, as in India, with a few *individuals* being rich. Gini coefficient is also hard to measure (i.e. is an indirect measure) whereas literacy and life expectancy are fairly straightforward to measure.

@DRAY Alert. :D You know when you are needed. :P Besides, this interests you.

It is not easy to fight with an 'army' of some 100 posters, 50 link diggers, 100 fake data creators, 50 translators cum junior supervisors, and 20 senior supervisors working as a team 24/7, supported by a huge 1000 TB library of pre-written notes! And it becomes more irritating when they will not debate on topic based on sound logic, because they don't understand anything beyond some set notes given by their bosses.

However, at the cost of repeating myself I would like to reiterate that china's stimulous driven, outsourcing oriented economic model dangerously over-leveraged by unutilised overcapacity, economically unviable excess infrastructure, hugely bloated real estate, and most importantly, the debt-ridden massively over-leveraged credit in their banking system which can only go NPA from here will bring their inflated economy crashing over their head. Our far stronger consumption driven economy will come out as the winner at the end, 2nd half of this century will be ours and only ours. The world will celebrate the centenary of our Independence Day on the day of 15th of August, 2047. :)

India will never ever be close to China, it will always be third world for alot of its citizens, same as China I suppose. China will never be a true superpower either in terms of gdp pp and military but China/USA will be the future. India is to fractured to ever amount to a superpower.

This year is 2014-15...........try harder:sarcastic:

.... I don't see any positives,go through your economy sections of all major papers.

Industrial outputs, exports, service data, etc. likely 2015 fiscal won't even better than last year.

This year the projection is minimum 5.4 percent,,up from <4.5% last year.
Next year projection is 6-6.5%,,i wonder which paper are u reading.

The numbers are not stellar but improvements are being made.
