With the launch of NROL-76 it signifies the end of ULA monopoly on U.S military launches. I doubt SpaceX will be launching those billion dollar KH-11 spy sats anytime soon.

so how is state run space companies to compete against SpaceX??

Ariane 5 can't compete
Ariane 6 cuts cost in half, still not as cheap as Falcon 9
Proton-M+ can't compete
Angara 5 can't compete
Long March 3,5,7 can't compete
PSLV XL and GSLV III can't compete
Atlas V can't compete

only way they survive is if the state heavily subsidizes each commercial launch for a loss.

With Trump's new budget I wouldn't put my hopes in it.

So yes looks like Space X will be the leader in space exploration for quite some time at the minimal of 4 years and maximum of 8.

.
Have NASA hire Neil deGrasse Tyson & Bill Nye the Science guy to make Space sexy again.

Seriously 1/2 cent budget? If Science is the future we're screwed.

brother I agree with you, but I hate modern Bill Nye. guy is so smug and a SJW.

Trump needs to up NASA budget to 1% to 1.5%, but also cancel the SLS and ISS, both are a waste of NASA money Put that money into SpaceX to develop ITS, and to build space probes, telescopes, and a moon and mars base.

we just waste money on stupid stuff.

Cancelling ISS will be a diplomatic shitfest...we are stuck with it.

You can see the gimbaled engines moving back and forth.

yes
the russian soyuz program , which space X is based upon , can compete if commercialized

.
indias ISRO offers the cheapest & has the safest track record , India is already the top market for commercial launches.

So yes , India can , but isn't interested in exploring manned missions for commercial package like space X.

 butthurt

you are nowhere near spaceX in the term technology and resources:disagree:

Lol space x isn't spread as vast as isro or other space organisations ,its driven for commercial market , India aims in orbital &military aspects .

In terms of orbital launches ISRO>>> space X , our pslv is fraction of the price

ISRO isn't intrested in exploring that commercial aspect to launch carriers of 7000kgs .

Lol keep dreaming any respectable space organisation can do what spacex is doing , they don't because its needs more funds , spacex has only 1 angle, unlike the others.
