Can a Pakistani get visa to America?

Since many members here are Pakistani expats living in US, can anyone tell me what is going on with the news about visa restrictions?

I am preparing my passport and other stuff to fly away from Pakistan and the recent news is very worrying. I don't want to waste my money and time applying when it would be outright rejected?

Do you guys know more details or have been to PK/US in recent times (this year).

As long as you show you are genuine and have plenty of money in your bank account you should be ok.

They sometimes scan mobiles at the airport. Get a new one if your posting on pdf is "controversial".

You mean they scan for Indians, so make sure you have a bath to not get mistaken for one?

I have no issue with whatever verifications they need to do. I am a simple law abiding citizen as they come. Even stop for red lights unless emergency in Pakistan!

No. To look for potential undesirables from suspect countries. They download the complete information from the phone.

Thanks for the information. The only thing on my mobile is memes and pictures of myself, university buddies, places i visit. Nothing controversial

I would wait until the tension with Iran dies down then apply. Everyone is on edge, border patrol are on edge most of the time and get even more jumpy during such times.
