PHNOM PENH: Cambodian leader Hun Sen ordered the country’s military to destroy any US weaponry or dump it in warehouses on Friday, after Washington imposed an arms embargo over human rights concerns and Phnom Penh’s close ties with China.

The US on Wednesday imposed an arms embargo on Cambodia, citing concerns about human rights and corruption in the southeast Asian nation as well as China’s activities there.
The actions taken by the US State and Commerce departments aimed to restrict access to “defense articles and defense services” by Cambodia’s military and intelligence agencies, according to a statement.

But Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen downplayed the quality of US weapons and equipment on Friday.

“I order all army units to immediately review arms and military items that Cambodia currently has. (We) must recall all US arms and military items if there are any — put them in warehouses or destroy them accordingly,” he said in a Facebook post.

“(The US arms embargo) is a warning message to the next generation of Cambodians who lead the government that if they want an independent defense sector, please don’t use US weapons.”
“A lot of those who use US arms lost wars,” the Cambodian strongman said, citing Afghanistan.

Cambodia’s longtime leader is one of China’s closest partners in Asia, and his government has been dismantling facilities at the Ream base that were built partly with American money and hosted to US exercises.

The Sihanoukville-base on the Gulf of Thailand has been a running sore in US-Cambodia relations in recent years, with Washington suspecting it is being converted for use by China.
Hun Sen has repeatedly denied his country would host the Chinese military at the base.
Beijing has been increasingly exerting territorial claims in the South China Sea and East China Sea, raising tensions with numerous Asian nations, but Cambodia has increasingly appeared to be an ally.

loL, Does this logic of yours also apply to US allies?
You are hitting exactly the issue his kind doesnt want people to become aware of and realize.

They go down their deflecting script suggesting and claiming how Americas victims have actually beef with third countries and hold that against them even though the beef stems from that third country attacking Americas victim in first place with help from America, or American installed puppet regimes or not even real countries merely invented by U.S. propaganda, just to paint their victims as the odd one out. The "whataboutism" Americans parott like broken records is in reality largely just manufactured by U.S. propaganda. China didnt help Russia invade and occupy the USA and massmurder Americans. China didnt gun down Americans to force a narco cartell onto Americans. Nor did anyone else outside of America do anything similar. Loyal dogs of the genocidal U.S. terror regime have to resort to these sort of duplicit and disingenious takes to deflect away from the U.S.A. at all cost because the U.S. position is just that indefensible and their barbarious behavior contested only by the U.S. regimes closest allies and nowadays just pawns like the UK.

Because regardless of this projecting rethoric its actually the U.S. regime who is currently at odds or flat out on warfooting with countless countries in the world. Just in Asia the U.S. regime has beef with Russia, China, Korea, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, Phillipines, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, if you want it Ryukyu and all the occupied countries merged into India and probably two or three more countries I cant list off my head. And thats all the fault of the U.S.A. extending its hegemony into a distant region. Many of the other Asian countries not named are just too poor and tiny to even stand their ground against the U.S. regime and vice versa fall out of the U.S. regimes radar. None of these countries came over and started shit with the USA or has any immediate areas of conflicting interests with the USA since they are just that distant. In fact the only country that got remotely beligerent towards the U.S.A. in any recent time is Japan yet that instead is being whitewashed as a hero of justice and victim by U.S. propaganda.
