PDFers, Please share your experiences and opinions on free NAS apps.
I have a spare notebook lying around that I'm thinking of converting to a NAS. I currently use Pogo and I like its web accessibility.

What, if any NAS apps would you recommend? please share thoughts/suggestions.

Pogoplug is good with the cloud option. I will suggest some free NAS softs.

Have you tried FreeNAS?

But running an old pc/laptop as NAs box is not much appreciated, but it will serve well if you are not using it for 24hr nonstop. Noise and Temps are some time an issue for users. I'm not an expert in NAS side but just my ho

We are using OpenFiler, good application no need to mess around with commands . You just need to know little bit of LVMs VolGroups and how partitions work in linux.

And for FreeNAS i found installation guide some time back and fortunately I saved the URL but I havent used it yet
