I used to live in Georgia, and no one drink Bud Light deep south, those beer are targeting up-city progressive type that want to be a part of "one of the guy" but too chicken shit to try actual beer, or those fluff who count Calories. The appeal of beer is not just the taste. For me it is associated with hanging out with pals and rekindles memories starting from college days. Have had so many drinking groups in different stages of life, kind of brings it all together. Of course, you have to also be looking to get intoxicated to some degree and just soda won't cut it.

Any beer is more palatable when it is near freezing temperature. Controlling for temperature, craft brews are better than bottled beer, which (at least in India) have preservatives. I can vouch for this personally and seeing many people around me take to beer after craft brews became common in India.

Don't know about bud light, but when I first had the regular Bud itself I found it light on the palette and quite refreshing. It was a hot summer day so it went well with the weather. But I realised I couldn't have a second one in a row. If I am drinking a lot of beer, it has to be something with more 'character'.
