Jammu: A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was injured when Pakistani Rangers opened unprovoked fire on the Indian posts along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba sector on Friday evening, according to BSF sources. Firing was still on around 7.30 pm

BSF sources said the Pakistani Rangers opened fire on forward posts in Samba sector, 50 km south-west of Jammu at 5.30 pm on Friday, injuring one trooper.

The Indian side retaliated and the exchange of fire was still continuing.

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the Kashmiris have offered unprecedented sacrifices to secure their right to self-determination and are committed to pursuing their goal with steadfastness and high character both at individual and collective levels.

The APHC Chairman, while addressing a function, held in connection with the historical event of Meraj, at Aali Kadal mosque in Srinagar, condemned desecration of the Holy Quran in Bandipore and demanded probe into the incident through an impartial body.

Meanwhile, the Mirwaiz expressed sorrow over death of Muhammad Shafi Wani, the father of a senior editor of an English daily, Muhammad Arif Shafi Wani. He condoled with the family members of the deceased.
