BSF mulls deploying UAVs in Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan:
The BSF is mulling to deploy unmanned aerial vehicles to beef up surveillance along the Indo-Pak border under the Rajasthan Frontier.
The UAVs have already been deployed for border surveillance in J&K and Gujarat and their deployment on Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan is in the pipeline, BSF DIG Ravi Gandhi said.
If this takes place, the 804-km-long Indo-Pak border, from Jaisalmer to Sri Ganganagar district, under the Rajasthan Frontier will be under the sharp eyes of UAVs, he added.
"We have already taken efforts like electrifying fences in sensitive parts, installing CCTV cameras and flood lights, and hanging bells on the fences. Leaving no stone unturned, we have constantly been taking in measures, which are more fool-proof," said IG (BSF) B R Meghwal.
The entire border has been fenced and is under intense surveillance of border guards. However, the 35-km stretch at Shahgarh Balz still requires robust fencing due to presence of thick and shifting sand dunes.
