A woman called off her marriage and walked away from the stage after throwing away her garland after she was forced to dance to an item song along with the groom on the wedding night.

The incident took place in Firozabad district of Agra in a banquet hall.

It was during the wedding ceremony, when the friends of the groom demanded that the couple to dance on a popular Bollywood item number, but the bride refused. So they took the groom to the dance floor, but later the groom came back to the bride and forced her to dance with him, informed an eye-witness.

"When bride’s uncle tried to intervene between the bride and groom but was slapped hard, feeling humiliated, the bride threw away her garland and called off the wedding," he further added.

The girl's father also took a brave stand and asked the 'baraat' to return.

But unhappy with the whole incident the groom and his relatives got into a scuffle with bride's siblings, following which the police were called.

About six men were detained by the police along with the groom and his father, but men were released later as no written complaint was given.

the bride was being silly and arrogant... would she have gotten ill if she danced??

anyway, the entire concept of a wedding in a wedding hall is stupid and wasteful... only court weddings should be allowed with minimal participants.

if the bride thought of herself as so prideful she should have demanded a court wedding.

i don't understand what auspicious means. :)

and when there is song and dance by others in the two days to four days of what really must be a ten-minute process, what's wrong with the groom and bride dancing?? i don't visit weddings but as far as i know, nowadays the bride also dances.

and if you have seen aamir's 'pk', doesn't he speak about the bride and groom, through the desi wedding rituals, declaring to the invited guests and the world what they are going to do later??

and the parents of the bride and groom distribute wedding cards that say that on such a such date their children will...

doesn't "auspicious" work then?? :)

please calm down.

Was her objection on the song or the dance or both?

Looks like a drunken and/or heat of the moment temperamental clash gone too far.

Is this what we are expected to discuss here now?

Item songs. Would that include the works of Nicki Minaj and Jason Derulo?

. . . .
i could have... i just wanted your understanding of this person.
Like I posted before was her objection purely on the basis of song or did she object to dancing altogether? Would she have danced had the song being played was from any of the above "artists" with there overly suggestive lyrics.
