No country is ultimately safe from psychos that either plan or snap...and are hell bent on taking life and knowing how to do it. Canada is no different (maybe its better than US given population is 10 times less and far less gangs/drug cartels etc).

Just recently:

There was the nutjob that attacked our national war monument and parliament (killing the one honour guard sadly)

There was that guy that attacked the Quebec city mosque and murdered people some time back.

Random shootings and deaths in various cities from time to time (including mine).

Montreal college shooting in 2006.

These are what I can think of (if ppl think Canada is a total peace paradise)

Longer time back for most living memory.....each day I entered my engineering building at university, I would pass by somber memorial plaque there, that commemorates the 14 young women murdered in the very tragic Ecole polytechnique massacre (in 1989)....when we talk of reality that can happen even here in Canada (like say port Arthur massacre in Australia).

Make no mistake the country will mourn this for a long time and will live in memory for much longer, 13 lives and maybe more taken away like this. It is quite rare this many here....that too a 12 hour kind of episode. There will be a long investigation into all of this for sure...it is not acceptable.

Here’s a message from a friend who patrols in NS. It’s direct, but you’ll get the gist.

“Got dressed as RCMP with shit he found online, took his personnal marked pc that he made himself Went to his ex's place Forced her and new boyfriend out the house and tied them to a tree, executed them. Kids ran to the neighboor, neighboor got out to see, executed him Unclear what house he set on fire but probably both houses

Then hit the road, pulled people over with his marked pc and executed the drivers

Went accross our member on the highway, shot her once, dragged her out of her car, executed her, burned his own car and stole her gear and her car and kept on the "joyride" then ditched our member's car and ran off in another vehicle”.

“The guy went on a rampage last night through cottage country there burning houses and executing people. Executed a mom and dad in front of their children.

Burned his own house. Got in to his PC he had made at home. Drove around pulling people over and executing them.

Heidi Stevenson rams him on highway. He shoots her in the chest. Pulls her out and executes her point blank. Takes her Smith, mags and her car. Burns his car.

Ert shows up and drags her back. Leave her with gd. That’s the video that was out there.

Shoots Chad Morrison at some point. Current status is he’s alive to the best of ERT’s knowledge.

Burns heidi’s car and gets in to another vehicule. Civilian reports it. Rat actually pulls up while guys are getting gas at one station and leaves. They don’t put it together until later. The description and photos they had didn’t match him at that point.

Rat goes to another gas station and is filling up. Pds and ERT members show up. Pds ID’s him. They challenge him. He has smith out. Eats 10ish rounds.

10 plus people dead maybe more. Apparently the members were going from house to house just finding bodies. “

She apparently rammed his car (with hers) to try stop him (seems quite a grim scene on the highway where he had stopped cars and killed drivers and passengers).

Sadly she lost that fight shortly in horrific fashion after if you read the details of it (coming out now).

Sometimes it just matter of seconds, a hero tries the best they can do under limited info and the situation.

We can now only remember their sacrifice...but they are gone forever...and left family and friends.

This is the consequence of evil and good in this world, in this existence of ours, always in an eternal embrace...

I do wish the good would always win each time....but we all know it was never like that, is never like that, and never will be...
