PM Nawaz denies his role in calling Army for mediation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that he never requested Pakistan Army to become a mediator in the ongoing political turmoil in the country, ARY News reports.

Nawaz Sharif, while addressing a session of National Assembly on Friday, said that the house will jointly struggle for the supremacy of the constitution.

“We have struggled fordemocracyalongwith former PM Benazir Bhutto”, Sharif said.

“I can sacrifice my government but will never compromise on my principles”, he added.

Nawaz Sharif further said that there is no question of a U-turn on democracy.

Heaping praise on Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah, the prime minister said Shah translated his sentiments inhis speech.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq adjourned the session till Monday.

Without passing a law in Parliament, NS giving permission for Army to negotiate on political matters is unconstitutional .... he has just admitted on the floor that he breached the constitution and according to legal experts he can be tried under Article 6.
