Actually I do agree with this notion that Army is the root of the problem, it props up these corrupt members of the mafia to do their bidding and discards them when not needed.I speak to many people even from Karachi and they deadly support NS company. For them army is the root of problem.

Case in point, MQM, for years we used to hear that no one can do anything about MQM, they have so many thousands of armed and well trained men under their control and to raid Nine Zero would initiate a civil war leading to India and Western powers invading Pakistan.
Lo and behold, as soon as MQM ran out of their usefulness for the establishment, Nine Zero was raided and MQM chapter was closed overnight.
Army when it wants to goes after anyone in Pakistan and other times stays neutral and on the sidelines no matter how harmful that person/entity/event is to the nation.
It has tolerated absolute traitors in office of Presidency (Zardari) and ambassadorship (Haqqani) knowing full well that they are working against Pakistan and yet gave their security clearances to these individuals despite knowing the harm they will bring to the country.
At other time it is as brutal and draconian as it wants to be to whom the perceive to be an enemy of the state or when being paid to do so, like so many people it disappeared in the US war of terror.
