No according to on oath declaration by Judge Arshad Malik, he met Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra on 6 April this year. Nawaz Sharif was supposed to be in hospital on medical emergency. Instead he was conspiring against state institutions.

The only good thing in this whole episode is: if incase Maryum Nawaz asks to reopen Al Azizia reference (as the judge was being pressurized) and SC orders accountability court to probe into the matter, the life sentence of NS can potentially increase from 7 years to 15 years. Moreover, NAB as already filed a petition in IHC in Al Azizia reference to increase the life sentence of Mian Sahab, and to reopen Flagship reference in which he had been acquitted.

The beauty of this case is that the Judge would appear and testify if need be in the SCP.
While other parties to conversations between Malik and Hussain Butt, i.e. Hussain Butt is on the run and is a fugitive of justice, he cannot appear in the court.
Similarly now Nasir Butt is never going to return to Pakistan to testify in the SCP.

This judge needs to be tried and jailed. It's quite obvious that he succumbed to blackmail and bribery. He should have spoken out the moment it happened and he wouldn't be in the trouble he is. The judiciary, as with all state institutions is riddled with corruption.

I dont think....anything substantial will come out of this.. Rather, i think J Khosa will dismiss this petition in a single hearing, saying tht its the job of IHC to do inquiry and SC wont interfere in IHC matters

If Justice Khosa had any intention to take up this case, he would have ordered inquiry long ago, by now by taking suo moto and definitely wouldnt have waited for an unknown person to file petition and then order inquiry.. so i think this case will be dismissed in first hearing..... i think J Khosa will just say IHC will deal with this matter

Of course, it is the prerogative of the 3 member bench to dispose of the case, in whatever manner they deem fit. But, I think that since they have admitted the case, with quite an early date of hearing; so, may be, something substantial might come out of it. In any case, the case is being heard under suo moto jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. It doesn't matter, whether it is initiated by the court itself, or on the petition of an applicant. It remains the so called "suo moto" jurisdiction, under Article 184 (3), as below:

"Without prejudice to the provisions of Article 199, the Supreme Court shall, if it considers that a question of public importance with reference to the enforcement of any of the Fundamental Rights conferred by Chapter I of Part II is involved have the power to make an order of the nature mentioned in the said Article."
