This problem can only be solved if we clear more forest and make it palm oil plantation. Which I hope should only be done by small farmer and CPO, excluding large private own companies

Palm oil is like commodity and as such small farmers does note have chance to compete, you as country should discourage them from pursuing that monoculture and try to direct them to some other crops and live stock which could be still profitable but more stable, more sustainable and protected from outer influences

While in Indonesia we still have around 300 wild tigers in Sumatra island which is the island where most palm oil plantation in Indonesia is found. They live in rain forest.

121.000 farmers who have small palm oil plantations get 6.5 trillion IDR to rejuvenate their palm oil plantations through re-planting program. Re-planting program is to replace trees which has already been as old as 25 years with new tries to boost production, as well as replacing low production trees with trees that produce more palm oil. So we hope despite palm oil plantation is not enlarged, the fruit production can still be increased. It is government program to boost production of palm oil plantation owned by non corporate farmers.

Small farmer has around 7 million hectares of palm oil plantation or 42 % of total Indonesia palm oil plantation. Other plantations are owned by big corporations and state owned agricultural companies ( 14 companies (PTPN 1 until PTPN 14)

All i know as far as is EU concerned you will have more and more difficulties to sell on that market, does it make impact on you or will you draw some conclusions it is up to you.

Many members here are not informed well. Sustainable farming is already in our government program and has been practiced by small farmers as well gradually.

JAKARTA, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Indonesia will not approve new palm oil permits even after the lapse of a moratorium on new plantations, a senior government official said on Friday, amid concerns from green groups about a watering down in protection for forests.

The moratorium, which was introduced in 2018 to stop deforestation and improve governance in the palm oil industry, ended on Sept. 19 without any clear replacement.

Although authorities remain undecided on whether to extend the ban, they are committed to not approve any permits for new palm plantations, said Ruandha Agung Sugardiman, a senior official at Indonesia's Environment and Forestry Ministry,

"Even without (the moratorium), the policy laid down by the environment and forestry minister is to continue the ban on new permits for forest clearance for palm oil plantations," he told an online conference.

You are now just trying to salvage your argument at this point because you were proven wrong on percentage basis. And before you ran off to absolute size, bear in mind that Europe has much more landmass than Indonesia’s archipelago. So Europe is still doing worse than Indonesia despite its green propaganda. Cmon Europe, you had 150 years after the industrialisation age that saw massive deforestation of Europe and you can only manage to return to 35%?


Anyway, where did you get the 1000 million (1 billion!) hectares of forest in Europe? Official Eurostat site shows 159 million hectares at most.
