Looks like fireworks malfunction or early detonation than planned.

I was in north east chinese city of haichang in 2014 and we had a similar detonation in a newly opening plaza. Aprently early detonation caused all fire works to explode collectively.

This looks more like that. A bomb blast is more powerful comparatively. But one explosion was around 2nd highest floor of the building.

Lets see if im right or is it really a bomb explosion.
For china its highly unlikely for a bomb and more likely for fireworks or crackers brusting.

Even fireworks can be lethal i hope no one got hurt or killed.

Throwing explosives down from a high rise?

Sounds like GTA when I'm bored and playing with cheats enabled.

RIP to the person that died. Hopefully Chinese Elite Police take this retard out immediately.

I don't know about fake, but from one of the videos that I saw, it looked like explosion went off from 2 or 3 stories down from the top of the building, whereas people are claiming some crazy guy is on the roof throwing explosives down onto the street.

At least one person was killed in a series of explosions in a high-rise building in north-eastern China on Friday, local officials said.

The blast happened this afternoon in the Wanda Plaza Apartment Building in Changchun, city authorities said in a statement posted on social media.

The first blast occurred in the car park in the basement at 3:13pm local time (7:13 GMT) and the second one took place on the 30th floor of the same building three minutes later.

Police are treating the incident as a criminal case while carrying out further investigation, according to an updated statement.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing over 20 explosions and people had been evacuated from buildings surrounding the Wanda Plaza Apartment, the state-run Beijing Youth Daily newspaper reported.

The explosion occurred on Hongqi Jie, the busiest part of the city.

City officials said in the statement that the person who was killed in the explosion had been trapped in the unit and was later found dead by rescuers.

Changchun is the provincial capital of Jilin and one of the largest cities in northern China. It has more than 7.4 million residents.

Wanda Plaza Apartment is part of the Dalian Wanda Group, owned by Chinese business magnate Wang Jianlin, once the richest man in the country.

He is estimated to be worth $22.9 billion (£17.5 billion) and is the fourth richest person in China in 2018, according to Forbes.

Social media footage showed a busy road shrouded in smoke as devices exploded on the ground while people fled.

While another clip shows people watching on from the street as the unit was rocked by the blast.

AFP could not independently verify the authenticity of the videos.

Rescuers, including firefighters and paramedics, have attended to the scene.

Cause of the explosion is under investigation

ANOTHER CHINESE GOVERNMENT COVER UP

RIP to one who died and hope that there is no more casualty. The destruction in the the picture looks much more worse than what one man could have done by throwing bombs.

Still waiting for more information to come, news from HK haven't reported it yet.

True, do suicide bomber have that kind of fire power? the pictures looks like it was a military attack.

Update:
I just searched the pictures above and it was from the 2015 Tianjin explosions. Those pictures are unrelated form this incident. Some people are spreading fake information.

The explosion case of the Wanda Shopping Plaza in Hongqi Street, Chaoyang District, Changchun City solved

On the afternoon of January 25, an explosion occurred at Wanda Shopping Plaza, Hongqi Street, Changchun City, killing one person and injuring one. After the case occurred, under the command of the Ministry of Public Security and the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department, the public security organs at the provincial, municipal, and district levels dispatched more than 200 elite police officers to form a task force to fully carry out the investigation.

By extracting the residual DNA on the un-exploded ordnance left on the site, comprehensive site surveys, investigation visits, and cross-verification with the extracted surveillance video, it is determined that the dead man on the scene, Guo Mootao (male, born in September 1962, Jiangsu Provincial) is the suspect in this case. From the investigation, it is learn that the suspect Guo Moutao was suffering from cancer and was depressed. After killing a man who had a financial dispute with him in Songyuan City, he drove to Changchun City at noon on January 25 to Wanda Plaza in Hongqi Street. He blew up his car that was parked in the underground parking lot, and then detonated the homemade explosives in the rented apartment on the 30th floor.

At present, follow-up investigation work of the case is currently underway.
