BPPT) in partnership with Japanese firm Kyuden Mirai Energy Company Incorporated and Awina Sinergy Internasional, are accelerating technological advancements in the field of energy, especially in establishing electric vehicle charging stations.

The memorandum of understanding was signed between the agency and two corporations on Wednesday, October 9, in Japan.

Head of BPPT, Hammam Riza, said that the agency continues to push for the uses of clean energy in multiple sectors. The projects that had already commenced include the waste-to-electricity power plant operating in Bantargebang; the national electric vehicle fast-charging station; up to road tests of B30 biodiesel fuel for conventional vehicles.

The BPPT is also conducting research into geothermal power plants (PLTP), solar power plants (PLTS), and the development of new renewable energy sources in the area of Baron Technopark at Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta.

According to Hammam, the agency is also focusing on constructing the Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System (Ina TEWS) which is scheduled for distribution this year.
