Boeing sees bright future in India as clouds persist over China

I always had this intrinsic feeling that Airbus is technologically superior to Boeing in many aspects, could be ill founded and not true.

Like, the German automobiles be it BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi are regarded as superior in engineering and design, erogonomics to US makes of GM, Ford, Chevrolet and others.

But comparing car makes to Airliners does makes some sense only.

It depends on what one considers as 'good engineering'. German/European brands frequently try to mint the 'engineering' word in their ads for cars in India. However their cars have a reputation for being unreliable. Solidly built, safe, good to drive, but unreliable. Is that good engineering. Probably good enough. Japanese cars are known to be not that well built, but supremely reliable. Is that also good engineering? Yes.

I think high speed rail is more suitable for India rather than regional airlines.

True. A lot more plain so no need for so much tunneling and building bridges. High population density too so can really plan routes and stops for alternative services well.

Plus India is not as big as China. The shorter distance using HSR makes sense.

I don't know if the existing lines can be upgraded for high speed trains (I mean the really fast ones) which can threaten regional air travel. Land acquisition for new lines is a huge problem in India. Land owners often go the legal route, and though the govt eventually wins, it can cause massive delays.

Land acquisition is a big issue in India, and different states have different priorities.

No, look at the number of times Vande Bharat express had collision with cattle.

India has no ability to choose.

Biden just need to call Modi, and you must give up Airbus and buy Boeing.

This has historically not held true in civil aircraft acquisition in India. The A320s in the country vastly outnumber B737s. Only in widebody 777s do better than A330, but that has been the case world over because of 777s higher capacity. In any case, India is not a huge market for wide body aircraft.

Airbus (though Indigo) has captured bulk of market here.
The A320neo had issues with the engine, but they have now shifted to CFM Leaf engine now.

That's can't happen overnight. Bulk of our pilots are trained in Airbus, Indigo has huge orders for Airbus. Boeing just lost their entire credibility with Max disasters.

Boeing has been focussing on strengthening the capabilities of its R&D team in India with a $200-million, 43-acre wholly-owned engineering and technology campus in Bengaluru.

This will be Boeing’s largest facility of its kind outside the US.

You guys could be in a Max and would not know it.
This is not the point. The point is nobody want to take this lemon if they have choice as opposed to what u try to paint everybody thinks B737 Max is still safe. You are fighting a lose clause. :enjoy:
