Bodies of COVID-19 victims being dumped in Ganga India.

If Pakistani's could vote in /Indian elections, I would vote for Modi.

As I said during the last Indian Election campaign that Pakistan would prefer Modi to win as he would achieve for us, that no Pakistan can ever achieve against India in such a short time, and actually he has exceeded my expectations. For such a great (from my perspective) performance, he should win again.

Dozens more bodies have washed up on the banks of the Ganges river, as footage emerged appearing to show ambulance staff tossing coronavirus victims into the sacred waters.

Crematoriums in COVID-ravaged India are struggling to keep pace with a spiralling death toll of almost 250,000.

In recent days, scores of dead bodies of suspected coronavirus victims have been pulled from the Ganges River banks in eastern India.

Local authorities are investigating and a postmortem of the bodies has been carried out, but "due to heavy decomposition, we were unable to determine the cause of death," officials in the Bixar district of Bihar state said in a statement today.

An MP from India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Janardhan Singh Sigriwal, has claimed bodies of COVID dead are being thrown into the river by ambulance staff in Bihar.

Footage on Indian news channels has shown what appears to be ambulance staff throwing corpses into the river.

India currently accounts for one in three of the reported deaths from coronavirus around the world.
Wood is running short across the country, meaning bodies are not being burned on traditional funeral pyres.

Funeral costs have spiked, leaving some poverty-stricken families with no option other than to push the bodies of loved ones into the Ganges.

The second wave has infected millions across the country in the past month, with thousands dying every day.

With nearly 23 million confirmed cases since the pandemic began, India is the second-worst affected country after the United States.

India has so far recorded 249,992 deaths, but some fear the number dead is much higher.

Buxar officials said that based on the condition of the bodies, authorities believe the bodies came from further upstream - possibly from the states of Uttar Pradesh or Uttarakhand.

Buxar borders India's most populous state of Uttar Pradesh, where a lockdown was extended over the weekend until May 17.
As coronavirus infections continue to rise, at least 24 of India's 36 states and union territories are under full lockdowns.

The Ganges river flows through the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and finally into West Bengal where it empties out into the Bay of Bengal.

Is that what an Indian life has become, trashed into rivers? Incredibly sick India.
They are all stark naked. Isn't public obscenity illegal in India?

Acts of a country that is overwhelmed by the pandemic. Hopefully, India will come out, not only stronger but soberer. Ever since Modi has come to power, India has been intoxicated with Hindutva, to the point of making them deaf, blind, and dumb.

.

Firstly, the central government was quite insistent on the Kumbh Mela religious gathering to happen despite advise from many people, including the now-removed Chief Minister of a BJP-ruled state ( Uttarakhand ), but it is contradictory that the same government couldn't prevent priests alongside the holy Ganga river to massively overcharge for funeral service.

Secondly, the medical system is in shambles and overburdened in most parts of the country and these ambulance staffers might not have been able to assist the families of the dead with things like firewood and funeral service and might have convinced the families of the dead to let them throw the dead into the Ganga river.

Thirdly, that BJP leader who is complaining about this act of ambulance staff in Bihar state should look that priests and families in BJP-ruled neighboring Uttar Pradesh state are also doing the same. Bodies, many suspected to be COVID-affected, are being floated away into the Ganga in UP and are reaching Bihar state. And in UP the Chief Minister is Hindutvadi hero and candidate for the 2024 Prime Minister election, Yogi Adityanath.

Bodies of COVID-19 victims among those dumped in India's Ganges -gov't document

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Bodies of COVID-19 victims have been found dumped in some Indian rivers, a state government letter seen by Reuters says, in the first official acknowledgement of the alarming practice, which it said may stem from poverty and fear of the disease in remote areas.

Images of corpses drifting down the Ganges river, which is considered holy in Hinduism, have shocked the country, reeling under the world’s worst surge in COVID-19 cases.

Although media reports have linked the increase in the number of bodies found floating in the river and its tributaries in recent days to the pandemic, India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh, home to 240 million people, has until now not publicly revealed the cause of the deaths.

“The administration has information that bodies of those who have succumbed to COVID-19 or any other disease are being thrown into rivers instead of being disposed of as per proper rituals,” a senior state official, Manoj Kumar Singh, said in a letter dated May 14 to district heads that was reviewed by Reuters.

“As a result, bodies have been recovered from rivers in many places.”

Singh was not immediately reachable for comment.

Uttar Pradesh, home to more people than Brazil or Pakistan, has been badly hit by India’s dramatic second surge in COVID-19 cases. Health experts say many cases are now going undetected in the villages of Uttar Pradesh, where most of its people live.

Singh in the memo to district heads said a lack of funds to buy materials like firewood for cremation, religious beliefs in some communities, and families abandoning COVID-19 victims for fear of the disease, were among the likely reasons for the surge in body dumpings.

He asked village-level officials to ensure no corpses are thrown into water and said the state government would pay poor families of the dead 5,000 rupees ($68) each to cremate or bury bodies. The state has also asked police to patrol rivers to stop the practice.

India has been officially reporting around 4,000 deaths each day from the disease for nearly two weeks, but health experts say the toll is likely much higher due to poor testing in rural areas and other factors.

The jump in deaths has in many places led to backlogs at crematoriums and multiplied the cost of last rites.

Uttar Pradesh spokesman Navneet Sehgal on Saturday denied local media reports that as many as 2,000 corpses of potential COVID-19 victims had been recovered from rivers in the state and neighbouring Bihar in recent days.

“We keep recovering 10 to 20 bodies every now and then,” Sehgal told Reuters, adding that some riverside villages did not cremate their dead due to Hindu traditions during some periods of religious significance.

Bihar officials did not respond to requests for comment.

These people are beyond disgusting. Throwing diseased bodies into clean water.
You know your right. Vile is the word for it. Can you imagine if we did this? Imagine having 500 million discharging all the sewer in to Indus River. Then millions of us go plunging into the filth of the Indus in some crazy notion that it will clean us. Frankly I would puke just looking at the river leave alone jumping in it to wash my soul. Then to finish off the beastial habits we start throwing the diseased bodies of our dead. Just fcukin shocking.

Some of the dead these indians were dumping were their own family members. Their own mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters etc.
