Hazara Shiites flee Pakistan to Australia in growing numbers: report | GlobalPost

A growing number of predominantly Shiite ethnic Hazaras have been fleeing persecution by radical Sunni Muslims in Pakistan's Balochistan and seeking asylum in Australia, according to a U.N. report on recent trends in migrant smuggling from Pakistan released Thursday.

The report by the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime was released at a time when Hazara Shiites in Balochistan are under growing attacks from extremist Sunni outfits in the southwestern province.

In the provincial capital Quetta, where the marginalized Hazaras face serious persecution, Shiites continued their sit-in for a second day Thursday, refusing to bury 27 victims of a suicidal bombing attack Tuesday on a bus carrying pilgrims home from Iran.

"A vast majority of irregular maritime arrivals originate from Quetta in Pakistan. This is due to the large population of ethnic Hazaras residing there," the report said.

Australia has a small diaspora community formed by Hazara migration to Australia from the 1980s, including those who fled Afghanistan in the face of persecution by the Taliban.

According to the report, 810 Pakistanis reached Australia by boat illegally during nine months between July 2012 and March 2013, compared with 618 Pakistanis arriving by boat during the previous one-year period.

During the same nine-month period, the number of legal immigrant arrivals was 676 Pakistanis.

According to the report, Pakistan and Afghan nationals fly to Bangkok and Malaysia legally and from there they are smuggled to Indonesia. From Indonesia, they are smuggled to Australia on board small freighters or fishing boats.

UNOCD representative Cesar Guedes said at the report-launching ceremony that it was designed to work out effective intervention against human trafficking and migrant smuggling to and from Pakistan.

Saud Mirza, director general of Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency, said that his investigators are trying to net some of the big fish engaged in the human trafficking business.

First of all @A.Rafay you an open supporter of Taliban's and other L J terrorist made into a RESEARCH & DEV on this forum is absolutely beautiful i personally think you should be made a MOD and well deserving of this:alcoholic:

Pakistan wasn't made for Wahhabi or by them as a matter effect your leaders were against her creation at the time of independence and are against her existence even now. So feel free to cross back into India (indians will accept you with open Arm) or march towards Riyadh oh wait they don't want you. we the shias of Pakistan are not going any where we made the country go ahead and send this message up to Riyadh Wahhabi head quarters.

@A.Rafay it's not exactly that hard to get weapons and strike back problem is we will be destroying our own homeland killing our own people then what will be the difference between civilized and you.

As far as Australia is too far or close is concerned at least Shias are welcomed there on the other hand Europeans have already declared wahhabi's a terrorist sect chew on that.

LeJ and TTP are not Sunnis.. I know it doesnt matter to the world. but for record Sunnis have nothing to do with Shia genocide.

LeJ, and TTP/ Taliban are anything but Sunni ... they follow the faith of Al Qaeda which is NOT Sunni faith.

our number has come up too and when LeJ gets bored killing shias it kills Sunnis.

I read somewhere that according to the taliban - everyone else except the taliban are kaafir. So you are right, everyone's a target.

I don't buy this - Sunni's are against Shia's bit.

'Confessions of a British spy'

Confessions of a British Spy the account by an 18th-century British agent, Hempher, of his instrumental role in founding the conservative Islamic reform movement of Wahhabism, as part of a conspiracy to corrupt Islam.

The book tells a story of a British spy named Hempher, working in the early 1700s, who disguises himself as a Muslim and infiltrates the Ottoman Empire with the goal of weakening it to destroy Islam once and for all. He tells his readers: "when the unity of Muslims is broken and the common sympathy among them is impaired, their forces will be dissolved and thus we shall easily destroy them... We, the English people, have to make mischief and arouse schism in all our colonies in order that we may live in welfare and luxury."

Hempher intends ultimately to weaken Muslim morals by promoting "alcohol and fornication," but his first step is to promote innovation and disorder in Islam by creating Wahhabism, which is to gain credibility by being on the surface morally strict. For this purpose, he enlists "a gullible, hotheaded young Iraqi in Basra named Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab". Hempher corrupts and flatters Wahhab until the man is willing to found his own sect. Hempher is one of 5,000 British agents with the assignment of weakening Muslims, which the British government plans to increase to 100,000 by the end of the 18th century. Hempher writes, "when we reach this number we shall have brought all Muslims under our sway" and Islam will be rendered "into a miserable state from which it will never recover again.

1. A 'Wahhabi' is a person who follows the teachings of a Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi. Wahhabis are not called 'Wahhabis' because they believe in Allah's attribute Al-Wahhab, all Muslims believe in Allah's attribute Al-Wahhab.

2. Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi was born in 1699 and died in 1792. Before he appeared, there was no such term as 'Wahhabi'.

3. Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi rebelled against the Akida of Ahle Sunna Wa Jama'a and established his own Wahhabi School of thought. He took as his mentor Ibn Taimiyya (b1263/d1328), who also had rebelled against the Akida of Ahle Sunna Wa Jama'a and established his own school of thought.

4. Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi was spoon feed and supported by the British Government who were looking for rebellious people like Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi to destroy the Islamic Caliphate from within its self.

5. Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi was despised by his father and brother, who were both learned ulama of the Ahle Sunna Wa Jama'a. Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi's brother, Sheikh Suleman, refuted Wahhabism in his book 'As-sawa'iq al-ilahiyya fi'r-raddi'ala 'i-Wahahabiya'.

6. Mohammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi declared the Ahle Sunna Wa Jama'a as 'Kafirs'. He passed a ruling that it was lawful to kill men, women and children belonging to the Ahle Sunna Wa Jama'a. In fact, it is recorded in the books of history, that, the Wahhabis killed over 100,000 thousand Muslim men and enslaved the women and children.

7. Wahhabis came into power by torturing and killing Muslims. They finally took Mecca with the help of the British in 1924 and bombarded the Shrine of the Holy Prophet(Sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) in Medina. But it was in 1931 that they finally took Medina. And in 1932 the Wahhabis founded the state of Saudi Arabia.

Wahhabi hate Sunni just as much as they hate shia.

check yourself in India that there are shia/ sunni marriages, the least we do is tolerate each other.

the position works both ways. the difference is theological . ask an Ahmedi, his literature will claim that only Ahmediya faith is correct and others are misguided

what you see (mass violence) in the recent times is an anomaly... a medieval ideology funded by international money laundering from Middle east to rest of the world and supported by the modern technology (communication and weaponry)

Marriage in India, especially arranged marriages (Kula/gothra/caste/religion/astrological match making etc etc all need to match - apart from the basic criteria of income/age/skin color, character report, elders approval etc etc) is a much more complicated affair than a very basic Shia/ Sunni divide and we are used to that - so no point delving into that when it comes to India.

There are various streams in Christianity and Hinduism - but the basic question is, does the differences in sects in these religions warrant mass killing by way of suicide bombs? are the differences so great and intolerable that it becomes imperative to wipe out persons from the opposite sects? doesn't that actually mean that there is something wrong in what's being preached or taught?

I agree and I know what you are pointing to, but I don't see any protest or any effort to tackle the source that's spreading this. Without tackling the source is there a chance of any reprieve?
