KARACHI - Two explosions have been heard in Karachi’s Azizabad area where three people was killed and 33 people were reportedly injured. The first explosion occurred near a Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) election office. The second blast occurred in the exact same spot when rescue and media personnel reached the scene. Several newsmen and rescue workers are reportedly injured.
karachi - Intelligence agencies warned the Sindh government on Friday that militants are planning to carry out terrorist activities in the city.
The intelligence report stated that Khalid Shameem, commander of Tehrik-e-Taliban, was planning to target the offices and gatherings of political parties. They had prepared two vehicles for carrying out massive attacks but they had been kept at secret places, the report said.
The Taliban had distributed pamphlets wherein they declared democracy an infidel system and also threatened the political parties of targeting their rallies and election offices, the report warned.
The report suggested the provincial government to boost up security measures following the possible suicide attacks. Besides the Taliban, anti-state groups may derail the election process as well, the report predicted.
