What's new

Birds of Pakistan. For bird watchers.

Muslims don't eat these birds...we eat Houbara Bustard...and Beef especially Bachiya means young virgin Cow.
Houbara Bustard tastes good. Mention can be found in Baburnama, but these need conservation. They are vulnerable species.

If you take a walk back few years in time they were found in much lower altitudes plus high altitudes. In Pakistan the domain of these birds started from Margala Hills and extended north it was around 1978-79. After that the human population pushed them much north.
Sorry state man, the same is happening in India.
For example Great Indian Bustard which was quite common in India and Pakistan is critically endangered (red list). Speculated to have 250 individual remaining. Most probably will not last a decade.

I am not informed on Indian situation on these birds but in Pakistan they are being rehabilitated and the population is on growth. Yes it is on red line but not as much as critics state it.
